The Flash franchise has the potential to introduce the Reverse-Flash, Flash's greatest foe, in a future installment. In anticipation of this possibility, fan art has been created to provide a sneak peek of what could be in store. As excitement builds for the release of The Flash this summer, speculation about the future of the franchise is already underway. The latest fan art not only showcases the potential appearance of Reverse-Flash on the big screen, but also features Ezra Miller in the role of the formidable villain.
In Rahal Arts' fan art, Miller is depicted as both The Flash and The Reverse-Flash with the caption, "Would you like reverse flash to show up in the Flash movie?" The image cleverly showcases Miller's split persona, with one half donning The Flash's iconic red and yellow suit and the other half in The Reverse-Flash's predominantly yellow suit with a red lightning bolt. The contrast between the two suits highlights their polar opposite identities.
Given The Reverse-Flash's prominence in The Flash TV Show, it wouldn't be surprising to see the character appear in the DCU soon. While some critics have accused the superhero movie industry of making its villains mere copies of the heroes themselves, The Reverse-Flash stands out as a well-known example of this trope. Fans may not object to the character's inclusion in a sequel, but its success will ultimately depend on the upcoming installment's reception both critically and commercially.
It remains to be seen if Miller will remain a part of The Flash franchise following their recent legal troubles. Warner Bros. has not yet taken any action against Miller, though this may be due to the film's impending release. While Miller has been a successful casting choice, the severity of their legal issues may be cause for concern for the studio. As Warner Bros. focuses on rebooting the DCEU and The Flash serves as a major component of that plan, the franchise's future direction is uncertain, with or without Miller's involvement.
The Flash will release in theaters on June 16, 2023.
