Mortal Kombat 1 player at Evo 2023 showcases a new fatality move by Johnny Cage, combining ultra-violence with humor.
The Mortal Kombat franchise is known for its iconic fatalities, which consistently exceed expectations with their extravagant finishing moves. While not official, this new fatality for Johnny Cage only adds to the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat 1 on September 19.
During Evo 2023, a player of Mortal Kombat 1 successfully executes an ultraviolent and hilarious fatality move as Johnny Cage. The fatalities in the Mortal Kombat franchise are known for their iconic and exaggerated nature, allowing players to deliver an over-the-top and typically violent finishing move. Despite the increasing realism of the series' high definition graphics, NetherRealm Studios ensures that the fatalities maintain a humorous rather than purely shocking effect.
Undoubtedly, fatalities are a major highlight of the franchise, showcasing the willingness of NetherRealm Studios to push boundaries with their iconic characters. Mortal Kombat 1 seems to be in good hands as fans have already witnessed numerous brutal finishing moves, with one in particular generating significant discussion within the community. In a recent MK1 trailer featuring Geras and Liu Kang, the Fire God utilizes his powers to open a portal into space by snapping his fingers, summoning a black hole to tear apart their opponent. However, thanks to Evo, a newly introduced fatality for Johnny Cage has gained widespread attention.
Players at Evo have the opportunity to get their hands on Mortal Kombat 1 and test out characters such as Li Mei and Johnny Cage. With access to the complete moves list, players have discovered Johnny's initial fatality move. This fatality combines extreme violence with a touch of humor as Cage poses for a picture with his defeated opponent, then slams them face-first onto his Hollywood-like plaque on the ground. He pulls them up, leaving their viscera stuck, and takes another picture with their face noticeably missing.
Although fans were given a small preview of this fatality in the official Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay trailer during Summer Games Fest, this is its first complete unveiling. The fatality lives up to the expectations associated with the Cage family, as Mortal Kombat 11 showcased numerous outrageous finishers, including one where Johnny manipulates the upper torso of his opponent like a ventriloquist.
Many Evo fans have been assuming that this game build is what beta players can expect in a few weeks. The beta version features the characters from the first closed network test, and the latest Mortal Kombat 1 beta build includes Li Mei and Johnny Cage in addition to Frost as another playable option. Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X.
