Pokemon Sleep is constantly attracting new players, with over a million downloads to date. As the player community expands, issues have become more noticeable. Unfortunately, Niantic has been slow to address these concerns, only providing minor fixes thus far.
Fortunately, this is about to change. On August 14, 2023, Niantic shared an in-game update regarding the future of Pokemon Sleep. In this announcement, the developers assured players that they are actively working on enhancing the game. This is certainly encouraging for players who wish to dedicate their time to Pokemon Sleep.
Future Features
Niantic is working on several things, and the company has outlined its plans in this Pokemon Sleep announcement. These are all the confirmed features:
Adding new Pokemon
Adding more alarm sounds and relaxing sounds
Implementing night mode for the loading screen
Responding to an issue that makes it difficult to meet one's bedtime
Responding to an issue that makes it difficult to collect berries among other things located near the edge of the screen
Hosting the Good Sleep Day event, commencing on Wednesday, August 30th.
As these enhancements are currently in development, it is anticipated that they will be integrated into the game in the near future. This declaration also solidified the date for the inaugural Good Sleep Day, with the intention of providing players with enhanced rewards and the opportunity to capture superior Pokemon. The introduction of new Pokemon is consistently well-received. It remains to be seen whether these additions will be incorporated into the existing four islands or if there will be further expansions in the upcoming update.
Future Adjustments
Additionally, Niantic is actively working on addressing various other concerns to be fixed in upcoming updates. The aforementioned announcement shed light on these matters:
Pokemon recovering Energy while inside the Pokemon Box
An issue that causes the app to run slowly or freeze on some devices
Further optimization of battery usage during sleep tracking
The battery optimization will greatly enhance the user experience by allowing players to enjoy longer device usage without the need for constant charging. Additionally, the energy recovery fix has the potential to revolutionize gameplay. Currently, only the five Helper Pokemon recharge their energy while players sleep, which can be frustrating for those who wish to utilize multiple teams as Pokemon in the box remain at the same energy level. Another aspect that requires attention from Niantic is the reduction in biscuit costs or the introduction of easier ways to obtain them. Currently, Pokemon Sleep players must use biscuits sparingly due to limitations on purchasing from the Shop.
Pokemon Sleep is available on iOS and Android.
