Dolly Parton and Pitbull collaborated on a remix of “9 to 5” recently, and we're wondering why this isn't getting more attention.

February was quite eventful. Princess Kate Middleton was not spotted in public, Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor parted ways, Rachel “Raquel” Leviss took legal action against Tom Sandoval, Leah McSweeney sued Bravo, Beyoncé revealed plans for a country album, and Taylor Swift emerged victorious at the Super Bowl.

It's no surprise that not many people noticed when Mr. Worldwide, 43, teamed up with Parton, 78, for the song "Powerful Women," which includes a sample from "9 to 5" and has Pitbull cheering Parton on with a "get it, girl." But now that it's March and Women's History Month, we can't overlook this collaboration any longer.

The track "Powerful Women" was released on February 16 as part of a compilation project by Pitbull in partnership with the Daytona 500 event, where he performed during the celebrations. This EP also includes contributions from Tim McGraw and Nile Rodgers, making it the second installment in Pitbull's Trackhouse series that started in October 2023. However, "Powerful Women" stands out among the tracks from the original Trackhouse and Trackhouse (Daytona 500 Edition) for several reasons.

The top reason is Dolly Parton herself, who is always up for anything and has a great sense of humor. While some may criticize this song for not doing justice to her impressive career, those who appreciate it can simply enjoy the fun of hearing Mr. Worldwide getting Parton to rap about supporting women's rights. In the song, she gives a shoutout to Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, referencing their movie 9 to 5 where they played strong female characters fighting against a sexist boss.

Pitbull himself is always seen enjoying himself, making it impossible not to join in on the fun. He is like the Guy Fieri of music, offering up over-the-top delights that may not be the healthiest, but are too delicious to resist.

The only thing we’re missing is Pitbull playfully calling Parton “Mrs. 865,” a reference to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee's area code. Instead, we get a clever Dolly/dale pun that tickles Pitbull so much, he chuckles at his own joke in the middle of the song. Grammy voters, it's your move now!

Editor's P/S:

This article highlights the overlooked collaboration between Dolly Parton and Pitbull on "Powerful Women." Despite the star power involved, the release garnered minimal attention. However, it deserves recognition for its fun and empowering message. Parton's playful rap and Pitbull's infectious energy make for an enjoyable listen, especially during Women's History Month.

The collaboration is a testament to Parton's versatility and willingness to embrace new experiences. Her ability to blend her signature sound with Pitbull's Latin-infused style creates a unique and memorable track. While some may dismiss it as a novelty, the song's positive message and catchy melody make it a worthwhile addition to one's playlist.
