The book showcases Parton's journey through iconic photos highlighting her fashion statements from the 1960s to the present. These include her standout dresses and hairstyles in Nashville, her Playboy cover, outfits worn at Studio 54, and more. This engaging work is the second installment in a trilogy, following Parton's bestselling 2020 book, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics. The audiobook version, titled My Life in Rhinestones, also includes insights and contributions from Parton's lifelong fashion collaborators such as Allister Ann, Jim Herrington, Vance Nichols, and Cheryl Riddle.

Over time, Parton has become highly regarded for her extraordinary vocals and unique sense of style. Whether she graces the red carpet or performs on stage, the music icon captivates with her one-of-a-kind looks that she effortlessly pulls off.

Among her notable ensembles, there is the eye-catching pink lace dress that revealed her cleavage and the glamorous rosy fur coat she wore when she attended the premiere of 9 to 5 alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in 1980. Additionally, she made a bold statement in a striking yellow gold high-slit gown during her performance at The Dominion Theatre in London in 1983.

More recently, at the ACM Awards in May, Parton made a fashion statement by donning a sequin-covered fringe top with retro shoulder pads, giving it a silver hue. She complemented the top with shimmering pants adorned with dangling stones.

“My appearance was rooted in a deeply serious demeanor,” she shared with the publication. “I believed that was how I presented myself in the most favorable light. At times, it has been advantageous, while on other occasions, it may have worked against me. It took me a considerable number of years to be taken seriously, yet I was unwilling to alter it, firmly believing that if I possessed the talent, it would ultimately become evident.”
