A hypothetical video game based on The Mandalorian, set between the original Star Wars trilogy and the Sequels, was recently highlighted by an artist through concept art. The Mandalorian, which premiered on Disney+ in 2019, follows the journey of Din Djarin, a masked Mandalorian warrior who discovers a mysterious child with Force abilities during his travels across the galaxy. Both Din and his adorable infant companion Grogu quickly gained popularity among fans, with Din even appearing as a playable character in Fortnite and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Naturally, numerous Star Wars enthusiasts have expressed their desire for a standalone Mandalorian game that delves into Din's life as a bounty hunter before encountering Grogu, reminiscent of acclaimed RPG titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Rumors about a Mandalorian-themed massively multiplayer online game (MMO) from ZeniMax Online Studios, the developers behind The Elder Scrolls Online, emerged last year. Although no official confirmation has been provided, the concept has inspired impressive mock-ups and Mandalorian game box covers.
Twitter user Gav, who is a UI technical artist for EA DICE, the developer of Star Wars: Battlefront, recently shared a conceptual mock-up for a Mandalorian video game. This mock-up, titled "Way of the Warrior," features a screenshot of Din Djarin on a new desert planet called Zerona, as well as a character customization screen where players can choose different helmets and armor for the mercenary. Gav also created a brief animation for the game's start-up screen, which involves warping through lightspeed to the player's last session upon selecting the "Continue" option.
Although the existence of the rumored Mandalorian game is still uncertain, there are other exciting Star Wars titles on the horizon. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment will be releasing Star Wars Outlaws next year, an open-world game that allows players to explore the Star Wars underworld as a scoundrel. Additionally, Respawn, the developer of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, is working on a new first-person shooter that draws inspiration from previous Star Wars shooters like Dark Forces.
However, despite their potential, many fans still desire to experience the perspective of Din Djarin, or at least relive pivotal moments such as the Purge of Mandalore, in a thrilling video game. Gav's recent concept for a Mandalorian game provides a tantalizing glimpse into the possibilities and allows enthusiastic players to immerse themselves in the galactic adventures of the iconic Disney+ character.
