The campaign of Diablo 4 is the most impressive one yet, featuring a well-crafted storyline and captivating characters that breathe new life into the ailing Sanctuary. However, it is the game's numerous side quests that truly excel in worldbuilding. While many of these quests are brief, some lead to longer quest chains, and others are standalone tales. One such example is the Reject the Mother side quest, which offers a glimmer of hope that not all characters in the game have succumbed to madness.
Diablo 4 Reject The Mother Quest Guide
In order to commence the quest, head towards the Tusmaa Rift area located to the east of Ked Bardu. The destination is just a minute away, but exercise caution as demons are known to inhabit the canyon's nooks and crannies. Once you arrive, interact with the stone tablet to initiate the quest. A message will then appear instructing you to shout "no mother of mine" at the towering statue within the hidden shrine of the rift.
Players can easily reach the towering statue by venturing further into the Tusmaa Rift, passing by the Carver's House and traversing the tunnels beyond it. This area should be familiar to those who have fought Genbar and Mahmon during the main campaign. Unlike before, there are no bosses to battle, so players can easily make their way through the monsters and arrive at the impressive effigy located near the entrance of the Dark Ravine dungeon.
To complete the side quest, simply open the Emote Wheel and select the "No" emote. This will summon a small Heretic's Cache that contains a generous amount of gold, XP, and loot. Once you collect the rewards, the quest will come to an end.
To access the Emote Wheel, the default keyboard binding is E. Simply use the mouse wheel to navigate through the available pages. However, if the desired "No" emote is not found, the "Customize" button located at the bottom of the wheel can be pressed to locate and bind the emote to any vacant slot or replace an existing one. As for Diablo 4's Reject the Mother side quest, it offers a brief insight into the resilient nature of the people of the Dry Steppes amidst the impending apocalypse.
The rewards for completing the side quest may not be substantial, but the minimal amount of effort it demands makes it a convenient way to earn additional Dry Steppes Renown. This, in turn, will lead to unlocking bonuses such as an additional potion slot, increased Skill Points, and a few Paragon Points that will prove beneficial in the later stages of the game. Diablo 4 is currently accessible on various platforms including PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
