Unleashing Marvel Snap's Most Underpowered Heroes - The Ultimate Buff Wishlist!

Marvel Snap features a diverse lineup of characters, but a few iconic heroes are in dire need of a boost to truly reflect their legendary status within the franchise

Highlights

Marvel Snap introduces players to obscure Marvel characters, but some iconic characters have underwhelming cards, which doesn't do them justice.

The game has previously enhanced underwhelming cards, however, it is necessary to also strengthen renowned characters for more advanced levels of gameplay.

Cards belonging to Captain America, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and The Punisher inadequately showcase the true abilities and power of their respective characters, hence they require enhancements.

Marvel Snap is an excellent platform for introducing players to lesser-known Marvel characters. While it's commendable that the game features a diverse range of characters, including both obscure picks and iconic faces, some of the game's worst cards belong to the most iconic characters. This treatment does a disservice to these characters, and Marvel Snap should strive to balance playability with popularity.

Fortunately, the game has a history of improving underwhelming cards associated with iconic characters. The Hulk and Cyclops, for instance, were significantly bolstered with the inclusion of High Evolutionary. More recently, Hawkeye and Spider-Man also received buffs to better reflect their characters and enhance their overall usefulness. While these characters are often available as starters or at lower Collection Levels for beginners, it is crucial to ensure that they remain viable options for higher-level play by providing them with needed enhancements.

Captain America

Doctor Strange

Captain America, arguably the most iconic Marvel hero, disappointingly fails to live up to his legacy in Marvel Snap. In this game, he is merely a 3-Cost/3-Power card with a lackluster Ongoing ability that grants +1 Power to other cards positioned at his location. This ability is far from inspiring for a character known for his strength and heroism. While Captain America can be somewhat useful in Pool 1 Ongoing decks, his potential could be significantly enhanced by increasing his own Power or empowering the abilities of other cards in Silver Surfer decks.

While Doctor Strange's card in Marvel Snap isn't necessarily labeled as bad, his ability doesn't quite align with his character and seems too specialized for a hero of his importance. Similar to Captain America, Doctor Strange also boasts a 3-Cost/3-Power card, but his ability revolves around relocating the player's highest Power card to his current position. Although this ability proves advantageous for move-based decks, it lacks versatility elsewhere. A more fitting adjustment would be to exchange abilities between Doctor Strange and Mavel Snap's Wong. The latter sees much greater usage and seamlessly integrates into various deck types, thus making his ability far more suitable for the Sorcerer Supreme.

Ant-Man

Ant-Man's Marvel Snap card fails to live up to the potential of his abilities in the Marvel universe due to its lackluster impact. While it is understandable that Ant-Man, in his shrunken form, would be portrayed as a low-cost and low-power card with a base rating of 1-Cost/1-Power, his ability to grow to immense proportions deserves a much stronger effect. Instead of a mere +3 Power increase when in the presence of three other cards, Ant-Man should receive a substantial boost of around +5 Power. This adjustment would not only balance out the cost and risk of playing Ant-Man, but also align his power with his portrayal in other franchise appearances.

The Punisher

Regrettably, one of Marvel's most iconic anti-heroes is underutilized in the game, particularly outside of Pool 1. This contradicts the immense power and ferocity that Frank Castle embodies in other Marvel media. The primary concern lies in the current Punisher card, which only provides 2-Power for a cost of 3, along with an additional +1 Power for each opposing card at his location, thanks to his Ongoing ability. In the best-case scenario, he can attain a maximum Power of 6, which is only marginally higher than Spider-Man, who possesses the same cost but boasts a more advantageous ability. Consequently, it is fitting for the Punisher to either receive a boost in his base Power or an increase in Power per opposing card.

Marvel Snap is available for PC and mobile devices.
