According to Apple, the iPhone 15 Pro could potentially become a leading gaming console. Apple boasts that it will feature the fastest processor in the smartphone market upon its release, which will enhance its capability to smoothly run visually demanding AAA games such as Death Stranding. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro's ability to link to an external display is also a compelling aspect. While previous iPhone models offered this functionality, the increased power of this device makes it an even more exciting prospect.
Gaming experiences no longer have to be confined to a small handheld screen. The USB-C port on the iPhone 15 Pro allows users to transform their phones into a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck-like device, connecting them to an external monitor. Notably, content creator Vadim Yuryev highlighted a Chinese YouTuber who tested the new iPhone and shared the outcomes on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"OMG! It totally slipped my mind when Apple mentioned the iPhone 15's USB-C external monitor support, but now you can actually enjoy playing games on a high-quality external monitor with a game controller," Yuryev exclaimed. "Apple has essentially created a gaming console!"
During an interview with IGN, the team further confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro is capable of supporting up to 4K HDR video output.
According to Jeremy Sandmel, Apple's Senior Director of GPU Software, the iPhone has the capability to connect and drive 4K displays externally. This means that users can enjoy gaming and perform various tasks on these displays. However, Sandmel mentioned that the resolution and frame rate will vary depending on the specific demands of the game.
Preorders for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are now available on Apple's official website as well as major retailers.
