The latest installment in the Diablo franchise has finally arrived and has had a successful launch, particularly by Blizzard's standards. This can be attributed to the numerous public betas that enabled servers to be stress tested. Those who pre-ordered upgraded versions of the game were granted early access to Diablo 4 a few days before its official release on June 6, 2023. While a few days may not seem like much, it can make a significant difference in an ARPG series where the journey to the endgame is just as crucial as the destination. Despite the fact that the campaign for Diablo 4 can be completed relatively quickly, particularly if players focus solely on main quests, the primary gameplay loop of the game only begins once the story comes to an end.
It Takes About 30 Hours To Beat Diablo 4, But...
Players can expect a 30-hour experience in Diablo 4, according to early reviews and the game's developers. This is comparable to the time it takes to beat the main story in other Diablo games, but only if players rush through and skip side content. PCGamesN published an interview supporting this claim, and other outlets that have played through the game have also confirmed it.
Diablo 4's Campaign is Only A Fraction Of Its Content
As per Joe Shely's estimation in a PCGamesN interview dated June 12, 2022, the Diablo 4 campaign is expected to last for approximately 35 hours. This estimation has been validated by players and various other sources since the game's release. GameSpot's Alessandro Barbosa, who reviewed Diablo 4 early, stated that it took about 30 hours to complete the entire game on Veteran mode (World Tier 2).
The end of the main campaign doesn't mean the end of the Diablo 4 journey. Similar to other ARPGs and previous Diablo games, the post-game content in Diablo 4 is vast and challenging, providing players with a leveling experience that can almost rival the main campaign. However, even after reaching the ultimate level and maxing out paragon points, there is always a new Seasonal Update waiting to shake things up and add a fresh new layer of excitement to the game.
In the ARPG genre, players eagerly await seasonal content updates that introduce temporary world modifiers and novel mechanics. For instance, Season 26 of Diablo 3 enabled players to perform rituals for permanent buffs throughout the season, and even a decade after its release, it continues to draw vibrant communities. While it remains unclear what Diablo 4's inaugural Season will entail beyond a Battle Pass, the game's 35-hour-long story is just the tip of the iceberg. It's impossible to gauge how long it takes to achieve 100% completion in Diablo 4, but fans dedicated to playing for several years can anticipate spending countless hours immersed in the game.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S
