A recent video has surfaced showcasing a player in God of War Ragnarok emulating Heimdall during a boss fight with Thor. The Thor boss fights in the game are considered to be among the most iconic moments, with the first one in particular serving as a benchmark for what players can expect going forward. However, experienced players can make this boss battle fairly simple.
In the game's story, Heimdall is known to be nearly unbeatable due to his ability to read his opponents' intentions and anticipate their actions. This translates into his tactics of initially dodging any attacks thrown his way, which, combined with his other abilities, can make for a difficult fight. The boss battles against Thor are challenging in their own right, due to the thunder god's strength and speed. The first battle with him is made even more challenging by the absence of any of Kratos's weapons for the first portion of the fight.
A video posted on Reddit by MeasurementNo22 showcases Kratos battling Thor in the first boss fight of God of War Ragnarok. Throughout the battle, the player expertly dodges Thor's attacks, much like Heimdall's fighting style. To further emulate Heimdall, the player uses Realm Shift, one of his signature abilities, to temporarily slow down time and gain an advantage in the fight. Due to this fighting style, Kratos lands several hits on Thor while avoiding any of his attacks.
It's worth noting that Realm Shift isn't available until much later in the game, which suggests that this video was captured during God of War Ragnarok's New Game+ mode. This mode allows players to carry over certain abilities, like Realm Shift, and use them earlier in the game.
Despite the challenging nature of the Thor boss fight, there is a creative way to make it a simpler and more straightforward experience. This is evidenced by the use of a particular method that has been employed by some God of War: Ragnarok players, as shown in a video of them defeating the boss. It's exciting to consider the possibility of other such methods being developed in the future. If you're interested in experiencing this for yourself, God of War: Ragnarok is available now on both PS4 and PS5.
