Summary

The Smallville characters are given a medieval twist in captivating fan art, showcasing stunning portraits of iconic figures such as Clark Kent and Lex Luthor who are imaginatively reimagined in a medieval setting.

Smallville fans can find solace in the potential revival of an animated series, as the absence of a live-action season 11 leaves them wanting more. This exciting project aims to reunite the original cast and continue the story immediately following the conclusion of the series. With hopes high, there is a chance for Tom Welling's Clark Kent to finally embody the iconic Superman role, albeit in animated form, granting fans the opportunity to witness his superheroic portrayal.

Smallville characters undergo a captivating transformation in stunning fan artwork. Prior to DC's venture into shared universes such as the Arrowverse, the DCEU, and the impending DC Universe, Tom Welling took the helm with a star-studded cast in Smallville for an impressive ten seasons, portraying the iconic Clark Kent. The series featured several beloved characters from DC Comics, and in an intriguing departure, fan-created art now showcases some of these characters alongside Welling's portrayal of Kal-El in a remarkable medieval setting.

On Instagram, @buffy2ville delights fans with a collection of portraits that reimagine key characters from Smallville in a captivating twist — the world of the DC series takes on a medieval aesthetic.

Welling's Clark Kent, Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor, and Erica Durance's Lois Lane, among others, assume medieval personas of themselves. Clark is reminiscent of Robin Hood, effectively establishing a playful link to Justin Hartley's portrayal of Oliver Queen from Smallville.

Will We Ever Actually Get More Smallville Content?

Medieval Makeovers for Smallville Characters

Smallville season 11, the comic series that carried on with the exploits of Clark Kent portrayed by Welling, never made it to the big screen. Following the conclusion of the Superman prequel series, the only live-action Smallville material that followed was Welling and Durance reprising their roles as older versions of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.

After Crisis on Infinite Earths showcased that Welling's Clark Kent had relinquished his powers in order to live a normal life with Lois and their daughters, it may seem unlikely that the actor will ever portray Superman again in a Smallville revival. However, although this may never come to fruition in live-action form, there is one avenue for DC fans to indulge in more Smallville content and witness Welling's portrayal of Superman instead of just Clark.

Last year, Welling provided an encouraging update on the potential revival of the Smallville animated series. Collaborating with Rosenbaum, Welling is actively involved in resurrecting the show, with plans for the animated revival to pick up right where the series left off. Welling disclosed that their intention is to have most of the original cast reprise their roles, while also welcoming back the original Smallville showrunners, Al Gough and Miles Millar, to spearhead the creation of the animated storyline. It is possible that further information regarding the Smallville animated series' progress will be unveiled before the year's end, now that the Writers Guild of America strike has concluded.
