Microsoft has partnered with Antstream Arcade, a retro cloud gaming service, to offer more than 1,300 classic video games on Xbox consoles. As the availability of old-school games declines, there is a growing interest in preserving video games, and companies like Antstream Arcade are taking the lead. Established in 2013, this UK-based business is currently the largest retro game cloud streaming service worldwide, with over 3,000 licensed titles and 1,300 games ready to be played. In November 2021, the Antstream Welcome Pack was distributed on Epic Games Store, granting users a selection of Gems, which can be used to unlock games on the Antstream platform.

Antstream and Xbox have jointly revealed that the retro game cloud streaming service will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on July 21. Preorders are now available on the Microsoft Store. Gamers have the option to subscribe for a year at $29.99 or gain lifetime access for $79.99. This announcement is significant as Antstream will be the first third-party cloud gaming service to debut on Xbox, making it the biggest content release in Xbox's history. To give gamers more information about Antstream Arcade on Xbox, the company will host a livestream on July 14 at 12 PM PST. Antstream Arcade aims to not only preserve classic video games that may vanish over time but also to provide fans with easily accessible and legal means to enjoy them. Sarah Bond, the corporate vice president at Xbox, expressed her excitement, stating, "Many of us have fond memories of playing these games, so the ability to stream them on Xbox consoles and share these experiences with our loved ones is truly incredible."

Antstream Arcade offers over 1,300 classic games for retro gaming enthusiasts, spanning various consoles such as Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy. This includes titles that are now challenging to find and play, like Jumpman, Joust 2, Missile Command, and the arcade edition of Bubble Bobble. Xbox console owners will soon have easy accessibility to these games, with new additions being made on a weekly basis.

Additionally, Antstream Arcade provides features like achievement unlocking, cloud-based progress saving, and seamless game resumption. The platform also enables competitive gameplay by tracking high scores online, allowing players to compete against friends or participate in tournaments. Thanks to collaborations with companies like Tencent and Atari, Antstream has even introduced mods to certain titles, offering players new mini-games and challenges that add a fresh twist to well-known retro games.
