This summer, Pokemon Trading Card Game enthusiasts in Yokohama, located just south of Tokyo, Japan, are in for a treat. A series of exciting events has been unveiled for the city, promising a summer filled with joy. The latest addition to the lineup is the Pokemon Card Art Walk, slated to commence on August 8th and continue until September 30th. Spanning across various locations in the city, this event is set to captivate attendees.
Once globally recognized for the renowned Pikachu Outbreak festival, Yokohama has witnessed the absence of this beloved tradition for the past three years due to COVID-19. While Pikachu Outbreak hasn't made its grand return this year, it has been replaced with several other thrilling Pokemon events to delight fans.
Later this year, Yokohama will be hosting the first-ever Pokemon World Championships for the trading card game, marking a significant milestone for the city. Additionally, Yokohama will welcome back the Pokemon Colors exhibition, an interactive art museum inspired by teamLAB, where visitors can immerse themselves in a playful and colorful world alongside digital Pokemon.
Excitingly, the upcoming Pokemon Card Art Walk will feature the display of 1000 different Pokemon cards across various buildings in Yokohama, including the Grand Mall Park and Mark Is, Landmark Plaza, and Queen's Square. But that's not all, as an additional 1000 cards will also be showcased at the Sky Building near Yokohama Station, ensuring even more opportunities for card enthusiasts to marvel at these collectibles.
In various locations across the city, oversized Pokemon cards can be found. These cards are exact replicas of the original versions and are even larger than human beings! One distinctive feature of these cards is that they allow you to immerse yourself in the scene by stepping into the card for a photo, creating a truly memorable photo opportunity. Look for these fascinating cards at Yamashita Park, Yokohama Park, Marine and Walk open-air shopping center, Motomachi neighborhood, and outside Yokohama City Hall. You can also find them on the 3rd floor of Landmark Plaza.
Don't miss out on the special Pokemon Card "Flower Carpet" event at Finally, Mark Is and Landmark Plaza! Join us as normal fans come together to create fantastic mosaics of Pikachu and Charizard cards using flowers, sand, and wood chips on the floor. Whether you're a Pokemon fan or not, Yokohama is the place to be this summer, with endless photo opportunities, interactive exhibitions, and activities for all ages. And if you're a fan of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, this is the ultimate summer destination for you!
The Pokemon Card Art Walk will be in Yokohama from August 8 - September 30, 2023.
