The Ibis, also known as the Ibis Series CEL-240 mech, gained its reputation in Armored Core 6 as one of the most difficult bosses. This slender war machine not only possesses incredible speed, but it also unleashes a relentless assault of destructive red beams.
The Ibis's speed is unparalleled, making it nearly impossible for any weapon in Armored Core 6 to keep up with its agile movements across the Coral lake. However, there is a highly effective strategy that greatly diminishes the Ibis's greatest advantage, rendering this formidable opponent much less daunting.
How to Beat Ibis in Armored Core 6
Surprisingly, the most effective strategy to defeat this boss is to engage in close-quarters combat. Despite its swift and erratic movements, Ibis possesses numerous vulnerabilities that can be skillfully exploited with precise and forceful blows at close range.
The key to dominating Ibis in melee lies in the initial moments of the battle. During a specific maneuver, it extends its drones outward in a wing-like formation, then swiftly plunges towards the player with its redshift blade. Capitalizing on this, activate the boosters and execute a curved ascent to the left. By doing so, players can effortlessly evade both the laser attacks and sword strike, positioning themselves right beside Ibis as it attempts to regain control.

Simply be patient and wait for Ibis to perform its signature move at the start of every battle. While players can discover other sneaky opportunities, utilizing this specific move remains the safest and most efficient approach to defeating this mech. This strategy also holds true for the second phase.
Other big openings include its big chest laser and laser barrage attacks — these suspend Ibis in midair, leaving it vulnerable to ranged hits.
Best Build Against Ibis
For this battle, players should focus on creating builds that prioritize speed and survivability. In the latest installment of Armored Core 6, there are parts available that can provide players with builds boasting over 10k AP and more than 300 Boost (as shown in the image above). It is highly advised to utilize reverse joint leg parts due to their advantageous bonuses for jumping and quick boosts.
Going for a melee approach is widely considered the most effective strategy against Ibis. The ideal combination is to use the Stun Baton along with either the Ashmead Pilebunker or the Laser Lance. While the Pilebunker offers higher damage output, the Laser Lance is a more user-friendly option.
One thing to note about the Pilebunker is that its charged attack does not propel players forward. This can sometimes cause players to miss their aim, even if they believe they are within striking distance of Ibis. However, if successfully landed, this attack will not only deplete the boss' ACS bar but also deal approximately 40% of its maximum health in a single strike.
In contrast, the Laser Lance serves as the antithesis to the Pilebunker. It boasts an extensive range for its charge attack, although its damage falls slightly short in comparison. Regardless, when combined with the Stun Baton (which can be attached to the left-shoulder Weapon Bay), it can be wielded against Ibis to inflict higher damage and temporarily incapacitate the boss, creating an opportunity for a second charged Pilebunker strike.
While it is possible for players to entirely forgo the use of ranged weapons against this boss, those who aspire to achieve an S-Rank in this mission may opt for the trusted Zimmerman/Songbirds combination in their right side slots. This enables them to handle the initial stages of the mission with greater ease.
Armored Core 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
