The upcoming wrestling simulator from THQ Nordic and Yuke's, based on AEW, AEW Fight Forever, has been generating excitement among fans since its announcement in December 2020. With its release just weeks away, fans have been treated to preview footage that showcases the game's wide range of weapons, including a rideable skateboard. AEW Fight Forever is set to launch on all major platforms, and pre-orders have recently opened. Early buyers will receive exciting bonuses, such as the ability to play as Matt Hardy and Broken Matt Hardy. Gameplay footage has already hit social media, highlighting the game's unique features and weapons.
In a new feature showcased by the wrestling-focused Twitter account Dark Puroresu Flowinson, a match between Kris Statlander and Darby Allin displays the ability for wrestlers to ride skateboards throughout the ring, beginning from the top of the entrance ramp and ending at the ring. The wrestlers can then disengage from the board, allowing for effortless entry and exit from the ring while using the board as a mode of transportation. Additionally, players can execute a frog splash maneuver by leaping from the skateboard, resulting in a thrilling and entertaining spectacle that would be difficult to replicate in real life. In another gameplay video by YouTuber Pulse, Jon Moxley, Hikaru Shida, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole engage in a Fatal Four Way match that automatically includes no disqualifications, leading to the use of various weapons found in AEW Fight Forever, such as Chris Jericho's branded "A little bit of the Bubbly" sparkling wine, a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat, and an explosive container that can be thrown like a bomb. The extended gameplay footage also showcases Moxley utilizing the skateboard as a means of transportation.
Fans were thrilled upon viewing the gameplay footage of AEW Fight Forever, with some even remarking on the nostalgia it brought of classic WWE games such as WWF No Mercy and Smackdown vs. RAW. Additionally, fans were pleased to hear that the game would offer a balance between competitive and chaotic multiplayer matches, per Kenny Omega's statement, which only served to heighten their excitement further. AEW Fight Forever will be available on June 29 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
