The Archetype system in Remnant 2 is a significant departure from the first game, introducing fresh and captivating concepts. Among them, the Summoner Archetype immerses players in a fantasy where they master minions, enabling them to easily navigate through the game while their lethal companions handle the workload.
In Remnant 2, blending and matching Archetypes is a pivotal element of character progression. Unlocking the Summoner Archetype opens up a unique playstyle that complements certain other Archetypes in the game. Read on to discover how to obtain it.
Remnant 2: Unlocking the Summoner Archetype
Players first prioritize finding a Bloodmoon Altar upon entering Yaesha. These altars are typically located in the second open area of the world, such as the Far Woods or the Forbidden Grove. Easily identifiable on the player's map as big, blue markers, the altars are usually locked behind a dungeon that must be completed to gain access.
The Bloodmoon Altar functions as a vendor, offering various items related to the Summoner Archetype. Here, players can acquire the essential Faded Grimoire required to unlock the Summoner Archetype. Additionally, the altars offer Summoner-related items like the Blade of Gul, trinkets, and a complete set of armor specific to the Archetype.
Each of these items require Scrap, Lumenite Crystals, and a new form of currency known as Bloodmoon Essence. This currency is specific to Yaesha and can only be acquired during a Blood Moon. Players will be able to identify the presence of this area modifier when the skies above Yaesha transform into a deep crimson hue.
During a Blood Moon in Yaesha, players have the opportunity to encounter purple wisps scattered across the outdoor maps. By shooting these wisps, players can acquire one Bloodmoon Essence per wisp. While the wisps appear to spawn randomly, they tend to hover over specific areas rather than drifting across the entire map. It is common to find these wisps grouped together in clusters of three or four.
Blood Moons occur unpredictably each time a player enters an instance in Yaesha. There is no need to reset a campaign or Adventure Mode run; simply alternate between two areas until a Blood Moon occurs. Once it does, thoroughly explore the entire map, shooting every wisp that comes into view. However, proceed with caution, as enemies will continue to spawn, potentially posing additional challenges.
The Faded Grimoire requires 15 Bloodmoon Essence, 5 Lumenite Crystals, and 1500 Scrap to obtain. Return it to Wallace in Ward 13, and pay an additional 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1000 Scrap to unlock the Tome of the Bringer Engram. This allows players to freely switch to the Summoner Archetype. Moreover, it grants access to the Summoner as a starting Archetype in the character creation screen.
Remnant 2 will be released on July 25 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
