Heist Kitty: Cats Go a Stray is the third entry in Let Meowt LLC's open-world cat simulator shared universe. As the successor to Cat Saves Halloween and Cat Gets Medieval, Heist Kitty allows players to play as a cat causing chaos through heists as a member of the Meowfia family and engaging in other Ultimate Cat Nuisance activities. However, in a cops-and-robbers twist, players can alternatively join the Purrlice as a member of the cat Police Academy faction.
In a recent interview with Game Rant, Let Meowt LLC developers Brian and Carmen Rivers discussed how Heist Kitty's story is affected by players' decision to join either the Meowfia or the Purrlice factions. They also elaborated on the cats' abilities and how they impact gameplay.
According to Carmen, the decision to join either the Meowfia or the Purrlice factions has a significant impact on the game's narrative, while still allowing for plenty of chaotic cat gameplay and access to innovative gadgets. As Carmen put it, "The Meowfia is all about family and taking care of their cat clan, while also allowing players the freedom to cause chaos and do as they please on their own terms."
The Purrlice faction is committed to protecting the rights of all cats, but that doesn't mean they can't have a little fun with their high-tech toys. By choosing to join them, players gain control of exciting gadgets like police squad cars and drones. On the other hand, the Meowfia faction is all about criminal activities, such as bank robberies, in their video game world. According to Brian, these two storylines bring an added level of replayability and unexpected plot twists. It's not just a battle between the Meowfia and Purrlice, as they share some common concerns, and there's a new set of villains who emerge later on. Additionally, players can explore the unique abilities of Heist Kitty in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
When it comes to Heist Kitty's gameplay, there are two options to choose from - single-player and multiplayer. According to Carmen, who was asked to compare the two, single-player mode is perfect for those who want to focus on the game's story. On the other hand, multiplayer mode is all about creating chaos and having fun with other players.
One of the benefits of playing Heist Kitty in multiplayer mode is that players can take advantage of other cat characters' abilities. For instance, Angel the cat is a video game healer character who can be a valuable asset to the team. Carmen explained that Angel's weapons are designed to heal other players, making her an essential component of the team. Each cat character has their own unique weapons and abilities that can be used to help out the team, making the game both entertaining and social.
In addition to the cat creator feature in Heist Kitty, players can also choose from six pre-made cats with "elemental alignments" and unique items that provide them with special abilities. For example, Midnight wields a sniper rifle while Tiger has the ability to transform into a hulking giant cat, which can even affect other characters in the game. The development team had a blast creating these distinctive weapons and items for each of the cats. Heist Kitty: Cats Go a Stray will be available for PC on June 14.
