Carrie Bradshaw may have moved on from Mr. Big, but fans of Sex and the City are anxiously awaiting her reunion with another love.
In a teaser for season 2 of And Just Like That released in April 2023, Max hinted at the return of Aiden Shaw, Carrie's former fiancé portrayed by John Corbett. However, viewers have been wondering when this beloved character would actually make an appearance. (The series has aired five out of its 10 season 2 episodes since its premiere in June.)
The streaming service appears to be prepared to provide the anticipated content. On Friday, July 14, AJLT released its latest trailer, showcasing Aiden's reentry into Carrie's life. It seems that the two easily resume their relationship from where they previously left off. Max, via Twitter, captioned a clip from the upcoming episodes with the words, "Some relationships deserve a second chance... #AndJustLikeThat." The clip reveals Carrie and Aiden reigniting their romance once more.
"This is amazing, we're right back where we started," Aiden expresses with joy. The scene then transitions to the couple lying in bed together, playfully joking around at a department store, enjoying a dinner outing with Carrie's friends, and sharing a cozy beer while strolling along a boardwalk.
Amidst their rekindled romance, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) raises concerns about whether the exes are moving too quickly in their new relationship. However, Carrie, who is still dealing with her grief following Big's (Chris Noth) death, is content with pushing forward at full speed. "If it feels right, why slow down? You never know what tomorrow will bring," she argues.
Aidan, the character from Sex and the City, was introduced in season 3. The furniture designer quickly charmed Carrie after her breakup with Big. Despite their on-and-off relationship and Carrie's infidelity, they became engaged. However, Carrie struggled with commitment and they eventually broke up. Aidan later settled down with a woman named Kathy and they have three sons together. In the second SATC movie, Aidan and Carrie briefly reunited, sharing a kiss despite their respective marriages, but ultimately went their separate ways.
In a recent episode of AJLT (season 2, episode 4), Carrie mentioned Aidan and admitted to keeping tabs on him through social media over the years. She acknowledged feeling embarrassed about her behavior, but revealed that Aidan is now divorced and living back in the city.
Juxtaposed against their previous struggles, their efforts to sustain their relationship have been anything but smooth. Nonetheless, AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King disclosed to The New York Times in June 2023 that there may be a contrasting outcome for the duo on this occasion.
"I didn't bring Aidan back to fail," he playfully remarked to the outlet, hinting that their third shot at love would result in a lasting union.
Parker expressed agreement with King, assuring that the rekindling of Carrie and Aiden's relationship would not be a short-lived or insignificant reunion.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she described their connection as deep and captivating. The exploration of their dynamic is both thrilling for actors and intriguing for writers. Questions such as who they have become, their compatibility, any apologies and attempts to make amends, whether they uplift or hinder each other, all add to the delight of delving into this storyline. Parker attested to the immense joy of working with John Corbett, as he brings a wealth of talent to their on-screen partnership.
She continued, "The combination of excitement, curiosity, and fear exists within her. In her pursuit, she maintains a hopeful and optimistic attitude, genuinely interested in the outcome. However, it's essential to note that she is a mature individual who values independence and does not rely on others. Despite this, she remains a deeply romantic person, eagerly anticipating the thrill of flirting and pursuing, although she now asserts more control over the terms compared to her younger years."
