Exploring the mines in Stardew Valley offers a thrilling combination of gathering resources, overcoming combat challenges, and embarking on quest-driven expeditions. Delving into the underground world reveals valuable hidden treasures, including the elusive Dwarf Scrolls.
Situated in the northern mountains, the Mines initially present a roadblock in the form of obstructing rock debris. However, players gain access to Pelican Town's old mining shaft on Spring 5, Year 1, allowing them to embark on an exciting adventure. The Mines play a vital role in the game's Story Quests, with one notable quest being "Deeper in the Mines." These quests are essential for unraveling the secrets concealed beneath the surface of Stardew Valley.

Once players have reached Level 5 of the Mines and completed the "Explore the Mine" quest, they will be prompted to embark on another Story Quest that encourages them to delve even deeper. In this new quest, titled "Deeper in the Mine," players are informed that the mini elevator remains operational, enabling them to swiftly return to any previously discovered elevator doors.
Elevator doors are conveniently placed every 5 floors, specifically on levels that end in 0 or 5. These doors act as checkpoints, granting players quick access to deeper levels whenever they desire. To successfully fulfill the requirements of the "Deeper in the Mines" story quest, players must advance all the way to Level 40 of the Mines.
To progress further in the Mines, players must destroy rocks and defeat various unsettling monsters. Accomplishing this will generate a ladder, allowing players to descend to the next level. Rocks can be mined with a Pickaxe and have a mere 2% likelihood of spawning a ladder. They are a valuable source of Stone, Ores, and Geodes.
On the contrary, eliminating each monster holds a 15% chance of inexplicably summoning a ladder. Along their journey to Level 40 of the Mines, players may confront the following adversaries:
Green Slimes
Duggies
Bugs
Rock Crabs
Grubs
Cave Flies
Bats
Stone Golems
The player's progress in the Mines is saved every 5 levels they advance. Additionally, players who have achieved Mining Level 2 have the ability to craft a Staircase, which acts as a ladder allowing them to descend to the next level in the Mines. It should be noted that the Staircase can only be used once and cannot be placed on levels 0 or 120. To construct a Staircase, players will require 99 Stones.
Completing the “Deeper in the Mines” quest does not offer any specific rewards, but players can obtain a Slingshot from the Chest located at Level 40 of the Mines. Upon reaching Level 40, the graphics in the Mines change to showcase a frozen theme, known as the "Frozen Earth" section. Stardew Valley is currently accessible on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
