Unbelievable Skill: Gamer Creates Epic Basketball Court in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A resourceful player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom cleverly constructs a basketball hoop for Link's home using the powerful Ultrahand tool

A player in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has creatively constructed a basketball hoop for Link within the game. In this installment, players must once again rescue Princess Zelda and defeat Ganon, while also embracing a new level of imagination and creativity. With the introduction of novel abilities and tools, players have the power to bring their wildest ideas to life, including the inclusion of a basketball hoop.

Tears of the Kingdom rekindles some beloved features from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while also introducing fresh elements that transform the overall gameplay experience. One such feature is the ability to construct a personal abode for Link, building upon the home-building mechanics first introduced in Breath of the Wild. However, adding a basketball hoop to Link's yard requires a level of ingenuity beyond the confines of the in-game home-building interface.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the new and frequently used ability by players is Ultrahand. This unique skill enables players to pick up various objects within the game's world of Hyrule and connect them to other items. As a result, players have been creatively constructing everything from mechs to NFL-style field goalposts. A Reddit user named brusch13, who contributes to the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit, decided to enhance Link's custom-built house by adding a basketball hoop. This addition allows Link to practice his three-point shots in moments of respite from battling evil forces.

Brusch13's creation of the basketball hoop showcases simplicity and ingenuity, utilizing easily accessible materials found throughout Hyrule. By utilizing Ultrahand, the Tears of the Kingdom player connected two wooden beams to a large plank of wood, serving as a sturdy base. They then attached another wooden plank as the backboard. To complete the hoop, brusch13 ingeniously employed a Zonai Portable Pot. This item, typically used for cooking and found in the player's inventory, doubles as the basket. As for the ball, they utilized a Hydromelon, Tears of the Kingdom's equivalent of a watermelon, which is commonly found in the Gerudo Desert.

After distancing themselves from the basket, brusch13 raised a hydromelon high and prepared to shoot. They released a long, arcing shot that effortlessly found its mark, even though there was no actual net. Unfortunately, the hoop has a limited lifespan. Tears of the Kingdom causes the creation to disappear after a certain period of time or when the player moves a certain distance away. Fortunately, saving it in the Autobuild menu ensures that brusch13 can enjoy shooting hoops in a variety of locations, such as Link's house, the depths of a volcano, or even in the middle of the desert.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch.
