A dedicated fan of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has spent hours recreating the game's map in Cities: Skylines. Every neighborhood and iconic location from the hit 2004 game has been included. Cities: Skylines provides the flexibility to construct any type of city, and this enthusiastic player took advantage of the game's features to bring back popular places from GTA San Andreas.
Released in 2015, Cities: Skylines has been a platform for players to create cities of various sizes, ranging from small villages to sprawling metropolises filled with towering skyscrapers. The game offers a range of features to construct cities and ensure the happiness and wellbeing of their residents. These include urban planning tools that allow for the creation of entire neighborhoods, as well as the ability to strategically place public transportation and beautiful parks amidst the buildings.
Over the years, Cities: Skylines has continually expanded its building options and improved its gameplay through various expansion packs. These additions include day and night cycles, new buildings, and additional options to fine-tune the game's economy.
GTA San Andreas fan, Zocom7 on Reddit, recreated the game's entire map in Cities: Skylines. The project included key locations such as downtown San Fierro, downtown Los Santos, and Las Venturas. Zocom7 shared various pictures showcasing the detailed replication, including shots of the iconic Grove Street. This was Zocom7's second attempt, this time utilizing all the expansions in Cities: Skylines. The city had a population of over 170,000 and 76% traffic, successfully reproducing the original GTA San Andreas map while functioning as a playable city in Cities: Skylines.
Commenters on Reddit immediately recognized the popular setting of GTA San Andreas and praised Zocom7's creation. Zocom7 admitted to having regrets about not being able to create the perfect cul-de-sac for Grove Street, as recent game updates prevented the necessary mod from working. They also explained that the Las Venturas airport and Los Santos international airport were not actual airports but made to resemble those from the game using various buildings. In this city, only metro rail, train, tram, trolley, and tour buses were used, with the exclusion of public buses, taxis, and post office trucks to prevent traffic congestion.
Players will soon have the opportunity to construct even more remarkable cities with the highly anticipated release of Cities: Skylines 2. Although the map size in Cities: Skylines 2 may be smaller than initially thought, the game boasts an array of exciting new elements. These include enhanced transportation and economic systems, along with a wider range of customization choices. Currently, Cities: Skylines is accessible on PC, macOS, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
