Blizzard has fulfilled its promise to release additional content for Diablo 4 in "mid-to-late July". The first season of Diablo 4, known as Season of the Malignant, will commence on July 20 and will offer new seasonal rewards, cosmetics, and challenges throughout the world of Sanctuary. Unlike other games, such as Destiny 2, Diablo 4 requires players to create new "Seasonal" characters at the start of each season, which then become "Eternal" characters that can be played outside of the current season. Therefore, it is important to make certain preparations before July 20 if players want to be ready for the upcoming season.
Make Sure to Get At Least One Character Through the Campaign of Diablo 4
Without the ability to carry over Eternal characters from the launch of Diablo 4, players may wonder how they can easily access the seasonal content starting on July 20. Since creating a new Seasonal character is required at the beginning of the season, this character must complete the campaign before accessing the endgame where the seasonal content is located. To address this issue, it is important to ensure that at least one character has already completed the main story quest line of Diablo 4 before the launch of the Season of the Malignant.
With at least one character having completed the campaign, players can bypass the campaign quests and immediately engage in the limited-time content with a Seasonal hero from the beginning. If a player has already finished the campaign with at least one hero, they are perfectly positioned to enter the new seasonal content with a Seasonal hero without the need to replay the campaign. Although Diablo 4's campaign is enjoyable, it can be time-consuming to complete, even when players are focused solely on the main objectives.
Tie Up Loose Ends Around Sanctuary's Map
Before the first seasonal drop arrives, it is important for players who have completed the campaign multiple times with different classes to address any lingering threads in Sanctuary. A crucial task is ensuring that all the Altars of Lilith have been claimed, as they offer permanent stat boosts for all players on a profile. By finding all the Altars before the first season, players can give their Seasonal hero a significant boost from the beginning.
In addition to claiming the Altars of Lilith, another worthwhile activity to complete before the first season begins is uncovering all undiscovered areas of Sanctuary by eliminating the fog of war. This serves as a dual-purpose approach, as accomplishing one of these tasks will naturally lead to completing the other. Once the fog of war is lifted and all fast travel points are available, players will have unobstructed access to the upcoming seasonal content.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
