Ukraine Reports High Casualties from Russian Airstrike

Ukrainian officials have reported a significant loss of soldiers following a precise airstrike, with estimates suggesting that around 300 Ukrainian military personnel have been killed. The Defense Ministry of Ukraine is investigating the incident further to ascertain the exact details of the strike and its impact on the troops.

A Russian general has stated that a significant number of Ukrainian soldiers lost their lives in a single airstrike.

During a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces reported that as many as 300 soldiers were killed in the attack, which was carried out with precision using an aerial munition, as announced by Russia’s Defense Ministry on Saturday.

CNN is unable to confirm the numbers provided and Ukraine has not yet responded to the reports.

The location of the strike was not specified by Colonel General Alexei Kim, but he mentioned that it targeted the "deployment point of the 'Kraken' nationalist formation," which is a special unit of the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence as per the ministry.

During a meeting at the headquarters of the Joint Group of Forces, details were shared with Shoigu about the current situation in the "zone of the special military operation," which is Russia's term for its war in Ukraine. Commanders reported to Shoigu on the latest developments, the ministry stated.

Kim did not specify the exact time of the strike, but highlighted that in the past week, three American Patriot complexes, a Vampire multiple rocket launcher, over 10 foreign-made artillery systems, and fuel and ammunition depots were destroyed. This was attributed to the effective work of reconnaissance and strike systems, as mentioned by the ministry.

Kim informed Shoigu that Ukraine is facing heavy losses in equipment and manpower due to the use of advanced weapons and drones, according to the ministry.
