The Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron has strong feelings about The Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's breakup.
During a Wednesday, April 17, appearance on SiriusXM's The Happy Hour, Tyler, 31, who was the runner-up on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette in 2019, expressed his thoughts.
According to Tyler, "They have put a true stain on love in the Bachelor world."
Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, announced their separation during a Friday, April 12, appearance on Good Morning America.
“They make all my relationships seem very long,” he continued. “I’m a dating expert compared to them. Three months? They put a stain on love and Bachelor Nation because it was the most wholesome — like it brought so much joy back to The Bachelor.”
Gerry shared on the morning talk show that after having many deep conversations with Theresa, they both realized that it was time to end their marriage.

That same day, We confirmed that Gerry filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Tyler praised Gerry and Theresa's love story, which began on the first season of The Golden Bachelor in September 2023. They got married in a televised ceremony in January. Tyler mentioned that their love was a breath of fresh air compared to others who went on reality shows just to become influencers.
He added that it was disappointing when some couples suddenly decided they didn't want to be together anymore.
Gerry, who resides in Indiana, and Theresa, who lives in New Jersey, did not move in together after getting married. In their final joint interview on the “Dear Shandy” podcast in March, the couple discussed their disagreement on where to settle down.
Theresa shared, “At the moment, we're essentially in a long-distance relationship. Once we agree on a place to call home, then I can confidently decide where we will live.” Initially, they were considering South Carolina, but they are still uncertain about finalizing that decision.
Gerry shared his thoughts on Theresa's decision to keep working.
He mentioned, "I joined the show to find a partner as I have been retired for a while. I was looking for fun, adventure, and to go out and do things." Gerry expressed, "The main issue now is when can I start doing all that? I believe that having the freedom to enjoy life and do things is more important than our living situation."
Tyler believes that Gerry and Theresa were unable to compromise on lifestyle and location due to their unwillingness to change. He compared them to his single dad, who has become set in his ways as he ages. Tyler explained that his father struggles to find someone who shares his interests and doesn't want to change much himself. Similarly, he imagines that Gerry and Theresa are also set in their ways and unwilling to change, leading to conflicts between them. According to Tyler, as people get older, they tend to become more stubborn.
Tyler isn't the only one feeling disappointed about Gerry and Theresa calling it quits. Fans of the Bachelor Nation flooded social media with their reactions following the breakup news, expressing their surprise at how short the marriage lasted.
One fan even made a lighthearted joke, saying, "I still have milk in the fridge from when this was on."
Another person added, "They didn't even live in the same state, right? These shows are really creepy."
Theresa posted on Instagram on Monday, April 15, asking those who are feeling "confused and angry" about her and Gerry's breakup to "show a little kindness." She expressed her belief that the marriage would last forever and described it as one of the most amazing experiences of her life.
“It turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything,” she added. “Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned and that’s OK.”
