Twitter accurately predicted how Saturday Night Live would address the dismissal of Representative George Santos, a controversial figure on Capitol Hill.
His tenure was marred by numerous scandals, including embezzling campaign funds and stealing his ex-roommate's Burberry scarf. Predictably, Twitter immediately speculated about how Saturday Night Live would satirize his recent expulsion from Congress, and their predictions turned out to be accurate.
Twitter correctly predicted SNL’s singing Santos farewell
Santos faced expulsion following the release of a report by the House Ethics Committee, which disclosed that Santos had used campaign funds to purchase high-end clothing and shoes, Botox treatments, OnlyFans subscriptions, personal trips, and casino roulette tables.
Following the announcement, a Twitter user suggested that Saturday Night Live should have "Bowen Yang perform Hallelujah as George Santos" for a humorous skit. The reference was to Kate McKinnon's portrayal of Hillary Clinton singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" after the 2016 presidential election loss to Donald Trump.
Although Yang's performance differed from McKinnon's, they were both relatively accurate in their portrayal of the event. Yang took on his Santos costume and delivered a parody of "Candle in the Wind."
The cold open kicked off with a press conference, followed by Yang taking a seat at a piano to perform daring lyrics such as "It feels like I've led a life of controversy in the breeze / Never sure who to turn to when trouble loomed" and "It feels like I've led a life of a sinister Forrest Gump / I'm the man who fabricated too much even for Donald Trump."
Yang pays homage to one of Santos’ most shocking moments, reenacting the time when Santos fled from a group of pro-Palestinian protesters while carrying a fake baby out of the piano. For more of Dexerto’s TV and movie coverage, visit this link.

As an enthusiastic fan of Saturday Night Live, I was eagerly anticipating how the show would tackle the recent departure of Representative George Santos. Twitter had been abuzz with speculation, and I was excited to see if the show would live up to the hype. I was not disappointed.
Bowen Yang's portrayal of Santos was absolutely brilliant. He captured Santos' mannerisms, speech patterns, and overall persona perfectly. The skit was hilarious, but it also had a serious undertone that highlighted the absurdity of Santos' actions.
I particularly enjoyed the reference to Kate McKinnon's portrayal of Hillary Clinton singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" after the 2016 presidential election loss to Donald Trump. It was a clever way to draw a parallel between two of the most controversial political figures of recent times.
Overall, I thought Saturday Night Live did an excellent job of satirizing the George Santos scandal. The skit was funny, insightful, and thought-provoking. I can't wait to see what the show does next.
