David Turnbull opened the scoring for Celtic in their first match of the new Scottish Premiership season under the management of Brendan Rodgers. Despite being an unexpected choice over Reo Hatate, Turnbull quickly justified his selection by showcasing his skills.

After Josh Sims caused Greg Taylor to trip in the penalty area, he aggressively slammed the ball into the net. Kyogo Furuhashi then swiftly followed with a powerful shot, increasing the score to 2-0. Just before half-time, Turnbull found himself in an ideal position to capitalize on Matt O'Riley's exceptional cross, successfully converting it into a goal.
