Travis Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, is not used to getting so much attention — but she’s ready to shake off any haters that come her way.
Travis, 33, and Taylor Swift have been at the center of romance rumors, drawing attention not only to themselves but also to Donna, 70. Donna made headlines earlier this month when she was spotted sitting next to Swift during a game between Travis' team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chicago Bears. She once again met with the pop star on Sunday, October 1, to support her son as his team played against the New York Jets. Donna is a familiar face in the football world, notably seen watching her sons compete against each other during Super Bowl LVII in February. However, the unexpected fan frenzy caused by spending time with Swift has taken her by surprise.
Donna expressed her astonishment at being involved in something entirely new, stating, "I feel like I'm in a parallel universe." She revealed on the upcoming episode of the "Got It From My Momma" podcast, airing on Friday, October 6, that she relies on a specific Taylor Swift song to ward off negativity. When asked about her favorite track from the Grammy-winning artist, Donna responded, "I think probably 'Shake It Off.' We've been encountering a lot of haters lately."
Swift has been attracting attention recently, but Donna's popularity doesn't solely rely on that. Prior to joining Swift and other notable figures like Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner at Metlife Stadium on Sunday, the mother of two showed her support for her son Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Later on, a photo of her and Jake from State Farm (Kevin Miles) chatting in the stands went viral, causing a frenzy on the internet.
"On the Eagles side of things, being next to Jake from State Farm during the entire game was probably the biggest celebrity sighting of her week. And let me tell you...that guy's a great neighbor," Jason, 35, jokingly shared about his mom's eventful weekend on the October 4 episode of their podcast "New Heights," hosted by him and Travis.
"She has achieved tremendous success," Travis, 33, responded, expressing his admiration for Donna's rapid rise to stardom in the last year.
"I want to acknowledge and show gratitude to Mama Kelce for supporting my game. She even thanked me because she felt like she was transported to an alternate universe," Travis shared, referring to Donna's extraordinary experience. "She was seated alongside Deadpool and Wolverine... in a completely different realm."
Travis' popularity has soared since becoming associated with Swift. In fact, his jersey sales increased by over 400% after the singer appeared at his Missouri game on September 24. Although they have been together ever since, Travis believes that the attention may be excessive.
He finds it enjoyable when the camera captures who attends the game, as it adds to the atmosphere and enhances the viewing experience. However, Travis believes that it has been taken too far, particularly in his case, with the NFL constantly showing Swift during his games. In jest, he suggests that celebrities should be cautious when they are in front of the cameras, as they never know when embarrassing moments could be caught on tape. Travis humorously adds that there are certain things that one simply does not want to be seen doing on TV at all times.
