Russian S-300 missile strikes in Ukraine's Donetsk region on Saturday resulted in the deaths of eleven people, including five children, according to the local military administration. "He said the enemy heartlessly targets civilians in an attempt to inflict maximum sorrow on our homeland."

The official's photos depicted rescue workers combing through the debris of one-story homes and examining at least one destroyed car.

Donetsk is a city on the frontlines of the conflict in the eastern region of Ukraine, and is currently under partial occupation by Russian forces.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) has reported that ongoing search and rescue operations are taking place at the site of recent strikes, which completely destroyed three private houses.

"After successful rescue operations, one man was saved from the debris," stated the SES. "Additionally, rescuers managed to put out a fire in a residential building covering an area of 100 square meters. A team of 38 personnel and 10 pieces of equipment were involved in the rescue efforts," the SES report disclosed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to the families who suffered losses in the strike during his evening address.

"We must make sure that Russia understands that there will be repercussions for the terrorist state for any strikes they make. We will use our own strength, defense, and political abilities to ensure this." Zelensky stated.
