During the conflict between Israel and Hamas in southern Lebanon on Friday, one journalist lost their life and six others sustained injuries. In a statement, Reuters expressed profound sadness upon receiving news of the demise of their videographer, Issam Abdallah.
"We are actively seeking additional information while collaborating with authorities in the region. Furthermore, we are providing support to Issam's family and colleagues," stated Reuters. The news agency further reported that two other Reuters journalists, Thaer Al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh, sustained injuries during the incident.
Two journalists from Al Jazeera, Elie Brakhya and reporter Carmen Joukhadar, were reported as injured. Similarly, the Agence France-Presse news agency confirmed that two of its journalists had also been injured. The Israel Defense Forces did not provide an immediate response to CNN's request for comment.
Prior to the Friday incident, at least 10 journalists have been killed since the onset of the war, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
