Longo's cause of death was disclosed by the Austin medical examiner on Monday, June 19th, as "chronic alcohol misuse," based on documents acquired by TMZ. The report further mentioned that the death was classified as natural, and his body had already started decomposing when discovered at the scene.
Cody Longo, a former cast member of the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, has tragically passed away at the young age of 34. His lifeless body was discovered in bed at a residence in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, February 8th, as reported by TMZ. This devastating news was first brought to light by the publication.
According to TMZ, Clark, who is 31 years old, expressed her devastation and described her husband as an incredible father and the perfect partner. She stated that their entire world has been shattered. Clark had been working at her local dance studio on Wednesday when she started to become concerned after being unable to contact her husband, who supposedly had a past struggle with substance abuse. Upon receiving Clark's call, the police discovered Longo's lifeless body in bed.
"Words cannot express the overwhelming devastation I feel upon hearing the tragic news of my dear friend and client, Cody Longo's passing. My heart aches for his incredible family. Farewell, brother. Your presence will be deeply missed," shared Alex Gittelson, the actor's manager, in a heartfelt tweet on Friday.
The Hollywood Heights actor had been struggling with alcohol abuse before his death. In 2013, he was charged with a DUI in Los Angeles. To avoid jail, he was required to attend alcohol education classes and placed on three years' probation. Longo's publicist stated that it was an unfortunate misunderstanding and that his main focus was on music and acting. They also mentioned that they were taking the necessary legal steps to resolve the issue.
Longo turned to social media to reach out to his fans after the incident, reassuring them that everything was okay. "I appreciate all your support. Please don't worry, things tend to get blown out of proportion," he tweeted.
In November 2020, the actor from Nickelodeon was taken into custody in Tennessee on charges of domestic assault, following an altercation with Clark, as reported by the local newspaper Clarksville Now. Longo, who was later released on bail set at $2,500, refuted the accusations.
Longo is survived by his wife and three children; a daughter who is 7 years old, and two sons aged 5 and 12 months.
