Mexican authorities reported that on Sunday, a tragic accident occurred in southern Mexico when a truck carrying 27 Cuban migrants overturned. Sadly, at least 10 individuals lost their lives in the incident, while 17 others sustained injuries. The truck was unlawfully transporting the Cuban nationals on the Pijijiapan-Tonalá highway in Chiapas, according to the statement released by Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM).

Mexico makes agreement with US to deport migrants from its border cities

The driver is believed to have been speeding and lost control of the vehicle, fleeing the scene after it overturned, according to officials. Authorities have revealed that all 10 victims, including a minor, were female. Currently, all the injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

"The INM will communicate with consular authorities to begin the administrative process of repatriating the bodies to their respective countries of origin. Additionally, the statement acknowledges the INM's vigilance over the health condition of those severely injured. Migrants from Central America and the Caribbean often make their way through Mexico, using trucks and trailers, with the aspiration of reaching the United States."
