Following her portrayal of Chanel Oberlin in the horror-comedy series, Roberts maintained a collaborative relationship with Murphy, working together on several seasons of American Horror Story. In addition, she has also made appearances in various films such as Billionaire Boys Club, Little Italy, Paradise Hills, The Hunt, and Holidate.
After a period of dating Evan Peters intermittently, Roberts and Peters ended their engagement in March 2019. Subsequently, Roberts found love with Garrett Hedlund, and the couple joyfully welcomed their son, Rhodes, into the world in December 2020.
One year later, it was confirmed that Roberts and Hedlund had ended their relationship. Shortly after their breakup, Roberts started dating Cody John in August 2022.
In September 2023, Angelica Ross, Roberts' former costar from AHS, alleged in an Instagram Live that Roberts had misgendered her on set.
"According to Ross, she recounted the incident where she reported, 'John, Angelica is being unkind,' and he responded with, 'Alright ladies, that's enough. Let's return to work.' Director John J. Gray appeared to be part of the interaction. Ross then looked at me and asked, 'Don't you mean lady?'"
After the allegations, Ross confirmed that Roberts apologized to her. She wrote through X, "Thank you @RobertsEmma for reaching out and apologizing, recognizing that your behavior was not supportive. I will be available to discuss how you can do better and contribute to social justice causes using your platform."

She reunites with Usher and the two of them dance together in a casino before she wakes up the next morning. Playfully, she says, "What time is it? Dammit, I missed the show. I'm so tired. I'm a mother, after all." This playful clip seems to mock Jackson's controversial remarks about her outfit at an Usher concert.

She claims that there have been multiple instances of physical violence between them and reveals that they had broken up a month prior.
