Tottenham have signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg in a deal that could rise to £43m.
Spurs will pay an initial fee of £34.5m (€40m) plus a potential £8.5m (€10m) in add-ons.
The central defender, aged 22, has agreed to a six-year contract with Spurs, the longest deal the club has offered since Tanguy Ndombele's signing in 2019. Consequently, he will remain in north London until 2029 and don the No 37 shirt for the team.
Since joining at the beginning of summer, Spurs' head coach Ange Postecoglou has recently bolstered his squad with the additions of four new players. Van de Ven joins the ranks alongside James Maddison, Gugilelmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon.
What do we know about Van de Ven?
European football expert Kevin Hatchard told We:
"He exhibits impressive speed for a center-back and possesses excellent recovery pace. He demonstrates an aggressive nature and continues to acquire valuable experience at the highest level of the game, which is unsurprising. Not long ago, during his time at Volendam, a team outside the Eredivisie, he was not guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup."
Ajax observed him keenly, hoping to secure his services, but Wolfsburg outmaneuvered them.
The intriguing aspect of Van de Ven lies in his substantial experience under the tutelage of Niko Kovac, a seasoned and tactical-minded coach.
"He was happy to play Van de Ven in almost every single game. He's left-footed and good at bringing the ball out.
"In terms of potential, there is a high ceiling."
