Hanya addresses a longstanding issue in Honkai: Star Rail turn economy by focusing on skill point regeneration. In the Foxian Tale of the Haunted, she plays the role of a Ten-Lords Commission judge alongside Foxian healer Huohuo. Her deadpan expression and no-nonsense attitude make her a formidable interrogator, responsible for deciding the fate of criminals and recording their misdeeds with her trusty Oracle Brush. These same tools enable her to increase damage and ensure an abundant supply of skill points.
Learn about Hanya's abilities, her top Relics and Light Cones, and the most effective team compositions.
Hanya abilities
Hanya excels at boosting her teammates and replenishing skill points. Her "Burden" status effect allows her to regenerate skill points by applying it to enemies with her Skill. Burdened enemies are more susceptible to damage and replenish skill points when attacked by allies. As a result, Hanya should prioritize reapplying Burden when it wears off (after regaining two Skill Points).
Here's an overview of her abilities as detailed in her in-game character profile:
Basic attack: Oracle Brush
Hanya inflicts 50 percent of her ATK as Physical DMG to a single enemy.
Skill: Samsara, Locked
Hanya's attack deals Physical DMG equal to 120 percent of her ATK to a single enemy, and also applies Burden to them. When allies use 2 Basic ATKs, Skills, or Ultimates on an enemy with Burden, they will immediately recover 1 Skill Point. Burden is only active on the most recent target and will be automatically removed after the Skill Point recovery effect has been triggered 2 times.
Ultimate: Ten-Lords' Decree, All Shall Obey
Hanya boosts the SPD of a designated ally by 15 percent of Hanya's own SPD and enhances the same ally's ATK by 36 percent, lasting for a duration of 2 turns.
Talent: Sanction
When an ally performs a Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate on an enemy affected by Burden, the damage dealt is increased by 15 percent, lasting for 2 turns.
Technique: Netherworld Judgment
Hanya swiftly launches an assault on the enemy, inflicting Burden equivalent to the Skill's application on a random enemy upon entering battle.
Ascension Passives
Ascension 2 Passive--Scrivener: Allies who activate the Skill Point recovery effect of Burden will receive a 10 percent increase in ATK for 1 turn.
Ascension 4 Passive--Netherworld: If an enemy with Burden is defeated and the trigger count for the Skill Point recovery effect is 1 or lower, this character will also recover 1 Skill Point.
Ascension 6 Passive--Reanimated: Whenever the Skill Point recovery effect of Burden is triggered, this character will also regenerate 2 Energy.
Best Light Cone for Hanya
Hanya has access to various Light Cones, including the coveted five-star But the Battle Isn't Over. While not essential, as Hanya already regenerates enough Skill Points, But the Battle Isn't Over provides additional benefits. It regenerates energy and Skill Points when the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally and boosts the DMG by 30 percent for the ally that attacks after the wearer uses their Skill.
Obtaining a five-star Light Cone can be a challenge, but there are many four-star options that also work well with Hanya.
The Light Cone known as Memories of the Past grants the wearer 4 Energy per turn when attacking and boosts Break Effect by 28 percent, making it easier for support characters to exploit weaknesses. Even if Hanya doesn't defeat enemies on her own, she can assist her DPS in finishing the job. Additionally, the Dance! Dance! Dance! ability speeds up allies' actions by 16 percent when the wearer uses their Ultimate, making it a valuable asset for any Harmony character.
Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds provides one of three random buffs at the start of the wearer's turn: an increase in ATK, CRIT DMG, or Energy Regeneration. Despite the random nature of the buff, the reliability of receiving one of these buffs at the start of each turn in battle essentially adds an extra Harmony character to your team. However, this ability is only available through the Battle Pass Light Cone and is not accessible for free.
In addition, there is a free-to-play option available that does not rely on gacha. The Past and Future, a Light Cone, can be earned through the Forgotten Hall and boosts DMG for the next ally that uses an attack after the wearer uses their Skill. This is comparable to the secondary bonus from But the Battle Isn't Over. By raising it to Superimposition Level 5 with copies, ally DMG can be increased by up to 32 percent.
Finally, the three-star Meshing Cogs is a surprisingly useful option for Hanya's energy regeneration. It is easy to raise it to Superimposition Level 5 due to its frequent appearance in gacha pulls as a low rarity item. At Level 5, it grants Hanya 8 Energy whenever she attacks or gets hit, functioning as a three-star version of Memories of the Past.
Details of the Light Cones at Level 1 are as follows:
"But the Battle Isn't Over" (5-star): Enhances the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 10% and restores 1 Skill Point when the wearer employs their Ultimate on an ally. This effect can be activated after every 2 uses of the wearer's Ultimate. Additionally, when the wearer uses their Skill, the next participating ally (excluding the wearer) inflicts 30% more damage for 1 turn.
Memories of the Past (4-star): Enhances the wearer's Break Effect by 28 percent. Additionally regenerates 4 Energy when the wearer attacks. This effect can only be activated once per turn.
Dance! Dance! Dance! (4-star): When the wearer activates their Ultimate, all allies' actions are advanced forward by 16 percent.
Past and Future (4-star): When the wearer uses their Skill, the next ally taking action (excluding the wearer) deals 16% increased damage for 1 turn.
Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds (4-star): At the beginning of the battle and whenever the wearer's turn starts, one of the following effects is randomly applied: All allies' ATK is increased by 10%, all allies' CRIT DMG is increased by 12%, or all allies' Energy Regeneration Rate is increased by 6%. The applied effect cannot be the same as the last effect and will replace the previous one. The applied effect is removed when the wearer is knocked down. Effects of the same type cannot be stacked.
Best Relics for Hanya
Hanya benefits from the Meshing Cogs (3-star) artifact, which allows her to regenerate 4 Energy after using attacks or getting hit. This effect can only be triggered once per turn.
Most of Hanya's abilities scale off of ATK except for her Ultimate, which scales based on SPD. Therefore, the SPD-based Messenger Traversing Hackerspace set is essential. A four-piece set increases Hanya's SPD and boosts SPD for allies when she uses her Ultimate. However, if ideal Relics are not available, a two-piece Hackerspace set may be a better choice.
Take special consideration for mixing and matching if you already have a character like Asta to boost allies' SPD. Combining two pieces of Hackerspace with two pieces of Longevous Disciple Relics will enhance Hanya's survivability. These Relic sets are also great for farming together as they both come from the same Cavern. Alternatively, equipping two Musketeer of Wild Wheat sets will increase Hanya's attack, although it is not as crucial since she already has ATK boosts in her Traces (skill tree).
Here are the effects for the three Relic sets:
Messenger Traversing Hackerspace
Two-piece effect: Increases SPD by 6 percent.
Four-piece effect: When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for 1 turn(s). This effect cannot be stacked.
Longevous Disciple
Two-piece bonus: Boosts Max HP by 12%.
Four-piece bonus: When the wearer is attacked or has their HP drained by an ally, their CRIT Rate goes up by 8% for 2 turns, stacking up to 2 times.
Musketeer of Wild Wheat
Two-piece effect: ATK increases by 12 percent.
Wearing four pieces of this equipment increases the wearer's speed by 6 percent and boosts basic attack damage by 10 percent.
When it comes to Ornaments, choosing between Fleet of the Ageless, Broken Keel, or Sprightly Vonwacq will depend on the rest of your team. Fleet of the Ageless is a versatile choice that enhances Hanya's survivability and provides an attack boost to teammates without conflicting with other skills or requirements.
Broken Keel provides a much-needed increase in CRIT DMG, but it requires a challenging Effect RES balance. On the other hand, the usefulness of Sprightly Vonwacq depends on your team and equipment. If you already have a battery character such as Tingyun or Huohuo, or if you already have a Light Cone to advance actions like Dance! Dance! Dance!, you may want to reconsider.
Fleet of the Ageless: Boosts the wearer's Max HP by 12 percent. When the wearer's SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies' ATK increases by 8 percent.
Broken Keel: Boosts the wearer's Effect RES by 10%. If the wearer's Effect RES is 30% or greater, all allies' CRIT DMG will increase by 10%.
Sprightly Vonwacq: Enhances the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. Once the wearer's SPD hits 120 or more, their action is immediately boosted by 40% upon entering battle.
Hanya Relic stats
Hanya requires SPD boots for her needs. Additionally, the Energy Regeneration rope is essential to ensure that Hanya can utilize her Ultimate ability as frequently as possible.
The selection of other Relics should be based on your specific circumstances. It is recommended to equip her body piece and sphere with HP% to increase her longevity. Alternatively, ATK% pieces can be used to enhance her buffs if you have a highly resilient team (such as a defender or healer) or additional support from a healer and the ultimate shield, Gepard.
Relic | Main Stat | Sub-Stat |
Body | HP, ATK | SPD, ATK, HP, Effect Res |
Feet | SPD | SPD, ATK, HP, Effect Res |
Sphere | HP, ATK | SPD, ATK, HP, Effect Res |
Link Rope | Energy Regeneration | SPD, ATK, HP, Effect Res |
Best teams for Hanya
When it comes to substats, having high SPD, ATK, and HP is essential. It's also important to consider Effect RES if you're planning on using Broken Keel.
Hanya plays a crucial support role and should be teamed up with designated damage dealers, healers, and defenders. She works particularly well with characters like Seele, Bronya, and Yukong who rely heavily on skill points. Here are a few examples of team compositions that could be effective:
The team consists of Hanya, Seele, Pela, and Huohuo. Huohuo serves as the healer and battery, while Pela reduces defenses to complement the damage increase against Burdened targets. Hanya's skill point regeneration enables Seele's Resurgence Talent, allowing her to take another turn whenever she defeats an enemy. If desired, other DPS can be used instead of Seele, and a different healer can replace Huohuo.
Characters Hanya, Lynx, Sushang, and Tingyun all serve different roles in the team. Lynx focuses on healing and protecting the team from debuffs, while Natasha is an alternative option for variety. Meanwhile, Tingyun serves as a battery and boosts damage output. Similarly, Sushang, much like Seele, quickly depletes skill points due to her Ultimate allowing her to take another turn. In situations where needed, another DPS can be used in place of Sushang.
Hanya, Dan Heng, Natasha, Yukong (free-to-play)
Dan Heng, also known as the Physical Trailblazer, serves as the free-to-play team's DPS. Yukong's buff only impacts the next two allies in the lineup, so she should use her Skill frequently to maximize its utility.
