Arlan, a character in Honkai: Star Rail, stands out from other characters with his unique mechanics. One interesting detail is that his abilities are similar to Hu Tao's from Genshin Impact, another successful game by HoYoVerse. Arlan's attacks consume his own HP, but his Talent skill boosts his damage when his current HP drops below his maximum HP.

Consequently, Arlan, much like Clara, can also benefit from being attacked. To further enhance his survivability, it would be wise to equip him with shielding characters that can sustain him even when his HP is low. Fortunately, Honkai: Star Rail offers players a plethora of light cone options with varying degrees of rarity that synergize exceptionally well with Arlan's low HP, making them the ideal choice for him over other Destruction light cones.

5 Mutual Demise

Riding the Stellar Rails in Honkai: Exploring the Ambience of Arlan Light Cones

Base ATK (LVL 80):

370

Base DEF (LVL 80):

198

Base HP (LVL 80):

846

Effect

: If the wearer’s current HP is less than 80% of their Max HP, CRIT Rate increases by

10%/13%/16%/19%/21%

Arlan benefits greatly from using the 3-star light cone, Mutual Demise, thanks to its easy-to-trigger effect. As soon as Arlan activates his skill, 15% of his HP is depleted, making this cone an excellent option. This cone significantly boosts Arlan's Crit Rate, ensuring that critical hits are consistently landed. The effect becomes even more pronounced when maxed out, and obtaining multiple copies of this cone is relatively simple due to its rarity. With a solid base Crit Rate from Mutual Demise, Arlan can focus on other stats such as Crit DMG and ATK, leading to a substantial increase in his overall damage output.

4 Nowhere to Run

Riding the Stellar Rails in Honkai: Exploring the Ambience of Arlan Light Cones

Base ATK (LVL 80):

529

Base DEF (LVL 80):

264

Base HP (LVL 80):

952

Effect

: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%. Whenever the wearer defeats an enemy, they restore HP equal to 12%/15%/18%/21%/24% of their ATK.

Nowhere to Run may not perfectly complement Arlan's abilities, but it can still benefit him by keeping his HP at comfortable levels after eliminating an opponent. Additionally, it provides an ATK boost that improves his overall damage output. However, it is essential to consider that Nowhere to Run is an exclusive Nameless Glory light cone, which requires real-life currency to acquire, making it inaccessible to players who strictly play for free. Therefore, it should only be considered for Arlan if players have no interest in other Nameless Glory light cones or lack access to superior options, allowing them to optimize their gameplay and save resources.

3 A Secret Vow

Riding the Stellar Rails in Honkai: Exploring the Ambience of Arlan Light Cones

Base ATK (LVL 80):

476

Base DEF (LVL 80):

264

Base HP (LVL 80):

1058

Effect

: Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by

20%/25%/30%/35%/40%

. The wearer also deals an extra

20%/25%/30%/35%/40%

A Secret Vow is the ideal 4-star light cone option for players who want to maximize their damage output with Arlan. With its high scaling, this light cone provides an unconditional damage boost that is doubled when attacking enemies with more HP than Arlan. This makes it particularly effective in the early turns of battle. However, players may encounter challenges in maintaining the buff as the enemy's HP drops below 50%. With the help of a shielder or healer and Arlan's Eidolons, players can overcome these challenges and continue to utilize the full potential of A Secret Vow.

2 On the Fall of an Aeon

Riding the Stellar Rails in Honkai: Exploring the Ambience of Arlan Light Cones

Base ATK (LVL 80):

582

Base DEF (LVL 80):

396

Base HP (LVL 80):

1164

Effect

: Whenever the wearer attacks, increase their ATK by

8%/10%/12%/14%/16%

in this battle, up to 4 time(s). When the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, the wearer’s DMG increases by

12%/15%/18%/21%/24%

for 2 turn(s).

On the Fall of an Aeon is a highly recommended 5-star light cone for Arlan, which can be obtained and maxed out for free through Herta's Store using Herta's Bonds from the Simulated Universe. While it may not perfectly align with Arlan's kit, it offers a well-rounded boost in ATK and potential DMG, making it a valuable asset when facing Lightning-weak enemies. However, if players have access to A Secret Vow, it can be a more versatile option even against foes that are not particularly vulnerable to lightning. Consider adding On the Fall of an Aeon to your arsenal to enhance Arlan's performance in battle.

1 Something Irreplaceable

Riding the Stellar Rails in Honkai: Exploring the Ambience of Arlan Light Cones

Base ATK (LVL 80):

582

Base DEF (LVL 80):

396

Base HP (LVL 80):

1164

Effect

: Increases the wearer’s ATK by

20%/25%/30%/35%/40%

. When the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP equal to

6%/7.5%/9%/10.5%/12%

of the wearer’s ATK. At the same time, the wearer’s DMG increases by

20%/25%/30%/35%/40%

Clara's 5-star signature light cone is an invaluable asset that can also benefit Arlan if players have access to it. It provides an ATK buff and HP restoration similar to Nowhere to Run, as well as a DMG increase when Arlan defeats an enemy or gets hit. While the consistent HP restoration may be seen as a drawback for Arlan, it is not a significant amount and allows him to survive longer while still dealing damage. The ATK and DMG buffs make up for this and reduce the need for a strong healer, allowing for more emphasis on other support characters. It's important to note that this effect cannot stack and can only trigger once per turn.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
