What To Expert From Apple TV's New World War II Documentary
Nate Mann as Robert Rosenthal Masters of the Air Episode 7 - What To Expert From Apple TV's New World War II Documentary - How Will The Bloody Hundredth Compare To Masters Of The Air?
Masters of the Air is the latest miniseries from Amblin-Playtone, following the success of Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Band of Brothers, released in 2001, received widespread acclaim for its portrayal of American soldiers in World War II's European theater. The reviews for Masters of the Air have been mostly positive, with praise for its exploration of a lesser-known aspect of the mid-20th-century conflict.
Both Band of Brothers and The Pacific can be streamed on Netflix and Max.
While Masters of the Air's depiction of real events is, in many ways, faithful to history, the show also takes creative liberties. There's been a clear effort on the production's part to accurately depict the lives of Air Force members like Major Gale "Buck" Cleven, Major John "Bucky" Egan, Harry Crosby, and Major Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal, among others, but the show also has to tell a compelling and entertaining story. The Bloody Hundredth, as a documentary, should present a more accurate account of what the lives of these pilots were like.
What's more, The Bloody Hundredth will seemingly feature interviews with some of the real pilots of the 100th Bomb Group, with Robert Rosenthal making a brief appearance during the trailer. All but four of the real pilots have since passed away, however, including Rosenthal, meaning some interview appearances in the film will come from the use of footage captured before they died.
The Bloody Hundredth will stream on Apple TV Plus on March 15.

Editor's P/S:
The upcoming Apple TV documentary "The Bloody Hundredth" promises an immersive exploration of the true story behind the 100th Bomb Group in World War II. As a keen viewer of the prequel "Masters of the Air," I am eagerly anticipating this documentary, which offers a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the sacrifices, bravery, and human experiences of those involved in this pivotal conflict.
The trailer hints at an authentic and poignant account, with interviews from actual pilots, including the late Robert Rosenthal. It suggests that "The Bloody Hundredth" will not only complement "Masters of the Air" but also provide a more comprehensive and historically accurate portrayal of these extraordinary events. I believe this documentary will not only be an educational and moving experience but also a testament to the resilience and heroism of the human spirit.
