Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, along with their sons Chet and Truman, enjoyed a family night on the red carpet. The couple, both 67, attended the premiere of the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, California, on Wednesday, January 10, with their 33-year-old and 28-year-old sons.
"It's such a blast! We're thrilled to be able to enjoy the premiere as a family," Wilson exclaimed to Entertainment Tonight.
Hanks mentioned that the group had visited the venue numerous times before, but this visit on Wednesday had a special perk. "We're getting in for free tonight, so that's pretty awesome," he joked.
The actor has a strong connection to the theater, where many of his own projects premiered, evoking a sense of nostalgia in him. He reminisced about dropping off his son to see a movie and emphasized the significance of the theater as a hometown landmark. In addition to his acting roles, Hanks also contributed to the production of Masters of the Air, a World War II drama featuring a star-studded ensemble cast.

In addition to Chet and Truman, Hanks is the father of son Colin and daughter Elizabeth Ann with his late ex-wife, Samantha Lewes. They were married from 1978 to 1987, and she passed away in 2002 after battling cancer.
After his divorce, Hanks started a new chapter with Wilson, and the two got married in 1988. Chet caused a stir when he admitted that being the "son of somebody who's famous" can sometimes feel "complicated."
In a February 2022 YouTube video, he expressed appreciation for the numerous privileges he has experienced, although acknowledging that it has also been accompanied by challenges. He mentioned being able to travel the world, stay in luxurious hotels, and fly on private planes, and emphasized feeling grateful for these opportunities. Chet also revealed that he has encountered envy and hostility from his peers due to his parents' success, and that it has been difficult to overcome these negative preconceptions.
In September 2021, Chet reminisced about the strict control his parents had over him during his upbringing. "People assume I lived this super privileged life, richy rich, and that just wasn’t the case. It was actually the opposite," he revealed on Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan. "They never f–king gave me an allowance. I don’t know if I’m the brokest rich kid or the richest broke kid."

While he acknowledged that he was grateful for his family and his childhood, he added, “I just wish I could have been more anonymous.”
Last month, Chet gave a rare glimpse at his bond with his dad while they celebrated the holidays. “Gang,” he captioned an Instagram photo showing the pair bundled up while sitting side by side.
