"Thrilled to announce this news! Looking forward to creating incredible films together!" Cruise posted on his Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a photo of the studio's announcement.

"We couldn't be more excited to collaborate with Tom, a true icon in the film industry. Since the beginning, our goal has been to restore this legendary studio to its former glory," stated Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy on Tuesday.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and president David Zaslav has expressed his support for a partnership with Cruise as part of the studio's efforts to revive Warner Bros. There were no details provided about specific projects being developed in the announcement made on Tuesday. Cruise has a strong history with Warner Bros., having appeared in iconic films such as "Edge of Tomorrow," "Rock of Ages," "Magnolia," "Eyes Wide Shut," and "Risky Business."

Cruise has been an enthusiastic supporter of movie theater viewings during the pandemic and the growing popularity of streaming platforms. He has actively used his social media to urge audiences to head to the theater to watch major 2023 blockbusters such as "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer." Additionally, director Steven Spielberg commended Cruise, stating that 2022's "Top Gun: Maverick" potentially played a significant role in reviving the movie theater industry.

The sequel brought in nearly $1.5 billion worldwide since its September 2022 theatrical release, making it the fifth highest-grossing film in North American history.
