Archetype Entertainment's inaugural game, Exodus, a sci-fi RPG, was launched at The Game Awards with a captivating cinematic trailer. The trailer depicted a museum exhibit honoring a deceased space hero and her youthful ally, the result of time-bending lightspeed travel.
The trailer provides a glimpse into Exodus' core gameplay and storyline, featuring time dilation as a key mechanic. Players assume the role of the Traveler, embarking on missions to aid humanity by acquiring technology from the hostile Celestials. However, as you travel at lightspeed, time passes differently, with days elapsing for you while decades pass for humans back home. Archetype emphasizes that the decisions made will have far-reaching consequences spanning generations.
"Exodus presents a ground-breaking new sci-fi world where players must grapple with the long-term effects of their decisions," announced James Ohlen, studio head and co-founder. "As the Traveler, players will explore a meticulously detailed original sci-fi universe crafted in collaboration with acclaimed sci-fi authors. The game's setting and narrative revolve around the concept of Time Dilation, a topic that has captivated me since I was 12. Time Dilation serves as a driving force behind the in-game choices, leading to a chain of events that impact relationships with loved ones and the fate of civilization for generations to come."
Today marks the launch of the Founder's Program, offering a special Aegis suit adorned with a Founders insignia. Though no release date has been announced, Exodus is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
