Three Long-Lost Disney/Pixar Movies Return to the Big Screen

Three beloved Disney/Pixar films, previously lost due to the pandemic, are finally returning to theaters Don't miss the chance to experience these magical movies on the big screen for the very first time!

Three previously unreleased movies by Disney and Pixar are finally making their way to theaters, after facing delays due to the pandemic. Thanks to the success of Disney Plus, the release strategy for the studio has been constantly evolving. In the past, fans could anticipate when movies would transition from theaters to streaming, but that predictability has now changed.

The global Covid-19 pandemic caused Disney and Pixar to face even more uncertainty, leading the studios to shift away from releasing movies in theaters altogether. Now, three of the most impacted Disney and Pixar films are returning to theaters for a second chance.

Three “lost” Disney/Pixar movies head back to theaters

Disney and Pixar’s Soul, Turning Red, and Luca are all set to head to theaters for the very first time.

Each released between 2020-2022, the three movies debuted immediately on Disney Plus without getting an additional theatrical release.

Soul, Luca, and Turning Red are scheduled for theatrical release in 2024, with Soul on January 12, Turning Red on February 9, and Luca on March 22. Tickets for all showings will be available for purchase starting January 2.

As part of the Disney and Pixar lineup, each film will be paired with its own original short film: Burrow, Kitbull, and For the Birds.

In a June interview with Variety, Pixar's creative chief officer Pete Docter discussed the increasing trend of families choosing to watch Disney movies on streaming platforms. He pointed out that while it may be convenient to wait for the films to become available on Disney Plus, it's important to recognize the unique and valuable experience of seeing them on the big screen.

"I love this! Pixar's movies are meant for the big screen. They always get a lot of attention in our house," one fan shared on X/Twitter in reaction to the news. "Disney and Pixar just know how to tug at our heartstrings with their animated films," commented another.

"They definitely deserve it. Their movies are so well-made and deserve more than just being released on Disney Plus," a third fan concluded.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am thrilled to hear that three long-lost Disney/Pixar movies are finally returning to the big screen. I grew up watching Disney and Pixar movies, and they hold a special place in my heart. I remember the excitement of going to the theater to see a new Disney movie with my family and friends. It was always a magical experience.

I think it's great that Disney and Pixar are releasing these movies in theaters, even though they've already been released on Disney Plus. I understand that streaming is convenient, but there's nothing quite like seeing a movie on the big screen. The sound quality is better, the picture is clearer, and the overall experience is more immersive. I also think it's important to support the movie theater industry, which has been struggling in recent years.
