The Witcher season 3 is facing challenges as its viewership declines in comparison to season 2. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's book series, Netflix's fantasy adaptation follows Geralt of Rivia, a magically-enhanced monster hunter, and his adventures across the Continent with Yennefer of Vengerberg, Ciri, and Jaskier. Prior to the release of the first five episodes of season 3 on June 29, Henry Cavill stunned fans with the announcement of his departure from the show, being replaced by Liam Hemsworth starting from season 4.
One week after the release of part 1 of The Witcher season 3 on Netflix, Samba TV statistics (via Deadline) reveal a decline in viewership. The season 3 premiere was watched by a total of 1.1 million US households, which is still a respectable number. However, this marks a decrease of 15% compared to the 1.3 million households that watched the season 2 premiere. Throughout the following four episodes, audience interest continued to wane. Episode 2 garnered viewership from only 893,000 households, which then decreased to 750,000 for episode 3 and 602,000 for episode 4. By the time episode 5 aired, the numbers had dwindled to less than half of the season 3 premiere, with 505,000 household views.
