Plot summary
Author Yuu Okano and illustrator Jaian collaborated to create The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. Originally serialized on Shousetsuka ni Narou in September 2016, the series was later picked up for publishing by Overlap in 2017. Currently running and spanning 13 volumes, the series has been licensed for English release by J-Novel Club, who describe the plot as follows:
"Rentt Faina, an adventurous twenty-five-year-old, has spent the past ten years battling monsters. Despite lacking natural talent, he is trapped in a cycle of hunting Slimes and Goblins for minimal pay. Unbeknownst to him, his luck is about to change as he stumbles upon an unexplored path in the Labyrinth of the Moon's Reflection."
At the end of the path, instead of finding treasure or riches, he encounters a legendary dragon that swiftly devours him whole. Upon regaining consciousness later, Rentt discovers that he is neither fully alive nor completely dead—he has been reduced to nothing but a heap of bones. This sheds more insight into the protagonist's metamorphosis.

As a hard fan of the Isekai genre, I was eagerly anticipating the release of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer anime. The premise of an adventurer who is transformed into an undead skeleton and must fight for his survival and eventual return to humanity is both intriguing and unique. The animation and character designs look fantastic, and the voice cast is top-notch. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds and how Rentt will overcome the challenges he faces.
I'm also excited about the fact that The Unwanted Undead Adventurer will be streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll has a great track record of providing high-quality anime with excellent subtitles and dubs, and I'm confident that they will do justice to this series.
