When Aizawa activates his Quirk, he can temporarily disable the Quirk Factor of his target, rendering them Quirkless until he closes his eyes.
The effectiveness of Erasure is not dependent on Aizawa maintaining constant eye contact with his target. As long as he can see any part of their body, regardless of where their Quirk Factor is located, he can nullify their Quirk. Once the Quirk is activated, Aizawa can break line of sight without interrupting the nullifying effect. However, if he closes his eyes or even blinks, the Erasure ability will be deactivated.

Eraser Head's activation of this power brings forth noticeable physical transformations, namely a striking scarlet glow emanating from his eyes and his locks standing erect. Given that the majority of villains heavily depend on their Quirks in combat, Eraser Head can effortlessly immobilize his adversaries by encasing them in the robust fabric after negating their Quirk abilities.
Erasure’s Many Weaknesses
A specialized eye-wear equipment greatly enhances Erasure's power by effectively concealing Aizawa's eyes from his adversaries. This ingenious gadget prevents them from determining whether Erasure is active and who his intended target might be. Consequently, groups of villains are left in a state of helplessness as they struggle to decipher Aizawa's next move, making every single opponent vulnerable.
Due to the immense power possessed by Erasure, it is inevitable for Eraser Head to have certain vulnerabilities that can potentially harm him. The most apparent weakness of Erasure is its dependency on maintaining direct visual contact with the intended target. Aizawa's adversaries can easily take cover behind an obstacle in order to elude the nullifying effect of his Quirk.
Aizawa's physical changes can easily give away the moment Erasure is activated, even if he tries to hide it with goggles. His distinct upright hair is a clear indicator, allowing villains to know exactly when their Quirks are back. Additionally, the effectiveness of Erasure heavily relies on Aizawa's eyes, so if he were to lose his eyes, he would become Quirkless. This was evident when one of his eyes was lost during the Paranormal Liberation War, leaving him nearly powerless. Moreover, excessive use of Erasure leads to Dry Eye Syndrome, causing Aizawa to rely on eye drops after using his Quirk.
Lastly, Erasure is unable to neutralize the additional appendages of Heteromorphs that are created through Mutant-Type Quirks. While it can still hinder their Quirk Factors and render any secondary powers useless, it becomes ineffective if the Heteromorph's main power lies within their extra appendage, such as Ojiro's tail. In such cases, Erasure becomes essentially powerless against them.
Eraser Head’s Unique Fighting Style
Despite lacking offensive capabilities, Erasure has not lost his prowess on the battlefield. His primary combat strategy involves nullifying his opponents' quirks, then swiftly immobilizing them with a Binding Cloth.
