With his loud, brash, energetic, and aggressive nature, Gerard never shies away from a battle. He fearlessly confronts multiple Gotei 13 Captains and Lieutenants simultaneously. Gerard is arguably one of the most potent individuals in Bleach, both in terms of his inherent strength and the absurd advantages he gains from utilizing his Schrift in combat. Gerard Valkyrie possessed an aggressive, confident demeanor accompanied by eternal optimism. His self-assurance bordered on arrogance, particularly when interacting with the Shinigami of Gotei 13. Despite this, he also displayed compassion towards his fellow Sternritter, while showing no tolerance for weakness. Gerard possessed a self-righteous streak, viewing himself as the most powerful Quincy in the Wandenreich, second only to Yhwach.

As a skilled swordsman, Gerard wielded a black double-edged sword named Hoffnung, meaning "hope" in German. His fighting style lacked the intricacy of Shinigami Zanjutsu, but he compensated for this with his immense physical strength, delivering forceful and effective strikes. Notably, his blade proved highly durable, withstanding even the formidable attacks of Kenpachi Zaraki.

The primary advantage Gerard gained through wielding Hoffnung was its unique capability to reflect damage onto his opponents. As Hoffnung symbolized the collective hopes of his allies, any harm inflicted upon the blade would materialize as injuries on the bodies of his adversaries. Consequently, even minor chips in the sword would result in his enemies suffering significant slashes or gashes, rendering it exceedingly challenging to confront Gerard directly. Toshiro Hitsugaya, the Captain of the 10th Division, only managed to neutralize this ability by completely freezing Hoffnung. In addition to this, Gerard also utilizes a shield during battles and possesses the capacity to wield the Heilig Bogen to unleash Heilig Pfeil when necessary.

Unlike the Schrifts of the Sternritter, Gerard has always possessed this incredible power. Through "The Miracle," he can bring forth the thoughts and emotions of those around him, transforming seemingly impossible events into reality. This formidable ability reaches its pinnacle when Gerard faces overwhelming challenges, where even declaring something as impossible would result in the event occurring exactly as he intended. This was evident when he astonishingly grew stronger after initially appearing defeated by Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki during the Gotei 13's confrontation with him.

The Miracle grants Gerard incredible boosts in strength, size, and speed when faced with insurmountable odds. This manipulation technique allows him to attain victory by enhancing his physical abilities. When Gerard takes damage, his power is triggered, enabling him to convert the inflicted harm into physical enhancements. The extent of his powers and size increase correlates with the severity of the injuries. Major wounds cause Gerard to grow to an enormous size, surpassing even skyscrapers, while also greatly augmenting his strength. This form, referred to as his "Godly Size," may represent the limits of his abilities. Additionally, The Miracle instantaneously repairs any damage to Gerard's body, ensuring his full health. He is capable of regenerating limbs and even surviving being separated into two halves by simply reattaching them together.

Ascending To The Next Level

Gerard can activate his Quincy: Vollstandig by forming a Quincy Zeichen with his blood in the air. This transformation not only alters his appearance but also grants him a Norse Reishi helmet and intricate patterns on his arms and legs. Moreover, his weapons undergo changes, such as a star expanding over the outer rim of his shield and the star on the hilt of his blade Hoffnung turning white.

Similar to other Quincy: Vollstandig forms, Gerard acquires white Reishi wings. Additionally, he gains the ability to emit energy blasts from the tip of Hoffnung while in this state. These blasts possess immense power, capable of obliterating entire city blocks in a single explosion. If his physical form is destroyed, Gerard has demonstrated a second form of his Quincy: Vollstandig. In this state, he becomes a pure energy entity with a knight-like face and two spikes jutting out diagonally from his shoulders.

If left unchecked, Gerard's power has the potential to reach insurmountable heights. The Miracle significantly enhances his already terrifying strength to unprecedented levels. In his battle against the Gotei 13, his Reiatsu grew so immense that he struggled to perceive the presence of Shinigami captains nearby, a concerning fact in itself. He effortlessly overwhelmed many formidable opponents within the Gotei 13.

The situation only took a turn in their favor when three captains, Toshiro Hitsugaya, Byakuya Kuchiki, and Kenpachi Zaraki, joined forces to counter Gerard's dominance. Despite their efforts, Gerard maintained control of the fight due to his continuously increasing power. It was only when Yhwach's Auswahlen ultimately caused Gerard's demise that the battle came to an end. Consequently, the true extent of Gerard's fearsome power remains elusive, undoubtedly ranking him among the most formidable combatants in Bleach's Thousand Year Blood War.
