Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War returns with a fast-paced plot, immediately highlighting Uryu's elevation in the Quincy organization and the acquisition of a new power. However, the nature of this power might make Uryu overly dominant in the storyline.
In The Thousand-Year Blood War, Quincy leader Yhwach bestows special powers, called "schrift," upon his followers, each corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. These powers exhibit significant strength, as demonstrated by Stern Ritter Y, who impersonated Yhwach and displayed extraordinary combat skills. Though the other Stern Ritter and their schrift abilities have yet to be showcased, they all pose a significant threat. This applies to Uryu as well. Notably, Uryu receiving a schrift raises interest due to Yhwach claiming it to be the same as his own.
Uryu's "A" Schrift Is One Of Bleach's Strongest Powers
Uryu possesses the "A" Schrift, known as "Antithesis" in the manga. This power allows him to reverse the outcome of any situation. For instance, if Uryu is on the verge of defeat and sustaining considerable damage, he can use Antithesis to transfer that damage to his opponent while receiving the same amount in return. This ability is not limited to injuries and can be applied to any two interacting objects.
However, the potential of this power to disrupt the story is evident. It is somewhat akin to Orihime's ability to reject events, but Antithesis takes it a step further by reflecting the reversed outcome back at the opponent. Thus, Uryu's ability becomes significantly more potent. Although he has yet to demonstrate this power in the Thousand-Year Blood War anime, his first opportunity will arise during the Quincy's final war against the Soul Society. The fact that Yhwach possesses the same ability amplifies the difficulty of defeating him, unless another excessively dominant technique is discovered.
Uryu Gets One Of The Many Broken Powers That Appear In Thousand-Year Blood War
In the Thousand-Year Blood War arc of Bleach, manga readers are well aware that the abilities displayed by the Sternitters are incredibly formidable. However, there are instances where these abilities are either overly powerful or lacking sufficient explanation, such as in the case of Yhwach's powers that will be revealed later on. Nevertheless, Uryu has frequently faced difficulties in keeping up with the escalating power levels in Bleach. Yet, with the Antithesis ability now at his disposal as Yhwach's successor, Uryu has transformed from an average Quincy into one of the most dangerous adversaries in the Soul Society.
