The Hobbit, originally an epic fantasy prequel to the Lord of the Rings series, was directed by Peter Jackson and released in three parts starting in 2012. However, a YouTube creator named Yellow Medusa has reimagined the film using generative AI program Midjourney to envision what the movie would have looked like under the direction of Quentin Tarantino. The result is an action-Western epic that puts a new spin on the classic story.
The film's latest iteration features all the classic elements of Tarantino's signature style - explosive gun fights, witty banter, and a non-linear narrative structure. However, this time around, the cast has undergone a complete overhaul, with A-listers such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Harvey Keitel, Uma Thurman, and Steve Buscemi taking on the roles of iconic characters like Bilbo, Gandalf, Legolas, and Gollum respectively.
A Quentin Tarantino Hobbit Movie Is Less Unlikely Than It Seems
It may seem like an unconventional idea for Tarantino to direct a big franchise blockbuster. After all, the acclaimed director is best known for his original works that blend together various elements and themes from classic and cult cinema. While he did technically direct a sequel with Kill Bill Vol. 2 following Vol. 1 in 2003 and 2004 respectively, his experience with franchise films is limited to directing episodes of TV shows like CSI and ER as well as a segment of 2005's Sin City.
Tarantino has been in talks to direct several major intellectual property films over the years, including a potential adaptation of Casino Royale and Star Trek 4. He has also been associated with Marvel's Luke Cage film and was once considered a replacement for Jackson on The Lord of the Rings films. This has led to speculation that Tarantino could have directed The Hobbit.
