Jujutsu Kaisen is approaching its conclusion with each passing chapter, and based on recent events, it is highly likely that the manga is now entering its final phase. After defeating Gojo and Kashimo, Sukuna has returned to his true form and currently stands as the most powerful being in the world.
To the surprise of fans, Yuji joins the battle in the previous chapter alongside Higuruma. Together, these two will face off against this formidable opponent. Although Sukuna currently underestimates them, it won't be for long. As the protagonist, it is Yuji's time to shine.
Yuji's Current Power Level
Yuji's current power level is not particularly high when compared to the strongest characters in the world, such as Sukuna, Gojo, and others like Yuta, Hakari, and Kashimo. Many fans believe that the author has under-developed Yuji, making it seemingly impossible for him to defeat Sukuna without the story becoming nonsensical.
While Yuji has become stronger, he still cannot compete at the highest level. However, there is potential for further growth. Yuji is still a work in progress and holds a great deal of untapped potential. Gojo himself has acknowledged this, stating that Yuji has the potential to be as strong as him in the future. This indicates that there is room for Yuji to grow. It may be unrealistic for him to reach Sukuna's level in one fight, especially considering the questionable writing decisions thus far in the story.
Yuji's Cursed Technique
: Fans can definitely anticipate Yuji's substantial growth in strength and his eventual ability to contend with Sukuna on an equal level. The forthcoming battle between them is sure to be exceedingly thrilling for fans, regardless of the author's chosen method to bring them to a point where they can engage in a high-level confrontation on equal terms. It is evident to fans that Yuji needs a significant power boost to stand a chance against Sukuna. Sukuna, currently the strongest being in the world, becomes even more formidable in his true form. With the ability to launch attacks at full power and the agility to recite incantations during battle, thanks to his extra mouth and pair of arms, Sukuna possesses a tremendous advantage. This advantage was demonstrated in the previous chapter when he effortlessly dismantled Kashimo using a net of Dismantle.
If Sukuna possesses such a high level of power, there is no denying that Yuji would require assistance in battle against him. As he currently stands, Yuji is bound to be overwhelmed and in desperate need of a significant power boost. This boost could come in the form of a Cursed Technique. It has been established earlier in the story that eventually, Yuji will awaken a Cursed Technique. This technique could be the same one that Sukuna himself utilizes, which involves utilizing Cleave and Dismantle.
This is because Sukuna used Yuji as his vessel, causing his own abilities to gradually influence Yuji. At least, that is what Gojo mentioned in the early parts of the story. If Yuji does indeed manifest these powers, he will acquire a formidable new cursed technique that he has witnessed being used in combat. Additionally, considering his aptitude for learning, he should be able to grasp this skill relatively quickly.
Yuji's Resistance To Sukuna
Learning a cursed technique alone is not sufficient for Yuji to defeat Sukuna. In order to stand a chance against him, Yuji needs another source of power, specifically, a resistance to Sukuna's abilities. It is possible that if Yuji awakens the same cursed technique as Sukuna, he may develop a resistance to the powers Sukuna wields. This would mean that Yuji would not be equal to Sukuna in terms of strength, but he would be the only person capable of fighting against Sukuna and surviving his techniques after Gojo's demise. Attacks like Cleave and Dismantle, which are part of Sukuna's cursed technique, would not be as effective against Yuji, granting him a significant advantage in combat.
Fans have already witnessed Yuji enduring numerous slashes in the past, surprising them with his survival. Similar to how Kashimo could resist Sukuna's lightning-based attack because of their shared cursed energy, Yuji has the potential to resist attacks based on Cleave and Dismantle due to his possession of the same cursed technique. This makes him the sole contender capable of potentially defeating Sukuna, presenting one possible direction for the story.
How Yuji Vs Sukuna Could End
In order for the story to have coherence, it is imperative for Sukuna to be defeated. Allowing the villains to emerge victorious serves no purpose and undermines the essence of the narrative. While the notion of the antagonists prevailing may hold appeal for certain readers, it contradicts the underlying message of the story. Additionally, considering that the target audience comprises primarily of teenagers as young as 12 or 13 years old, a bleak conclusion would be highly unreasonable. Consequently, it is essential for the protagonists, particularly Yuji, to triumph over characters like Kenjaku and Sukuna. Fortunately, Yuji is not alone in this endeavor.
There are two potential ways in which the defeat of Sukuna may unfold. Either Yuji will reach the same level as Sukuna and develop resistance against his cursed technique, or fans will witness the collective efforts of Gojo's students in overcoming him. Gojo has diligently nurtured his students over the years, making it fitting for them to combine their strengths to vanquish Sukuna. However, ultimately, it is Yuji who should deliver the final blow. Regardless of the specific outcome, fans can be assured that a climactic one-on-one battle between Yuji and Sukuna will likely transpire, with Itadori potentially bringing about the demise of the King of Curses.
