Consequently, the only contrast between these two states lies in the quantity of ice he can generate and the extent to which it can impact its surroundings. Through Hyorinmaru's Shikai, Hitsugaya has the ability to create ice constructs, most notably manifesting as a Chinese dragon. He can freeze anything that comes into contact with the dragon or his blade, erect ice walls, manipulate the local weather, or set traps to immobilize adversaries.

Upon activating his incomplete Bankai, known as Daiguren Hyorinmaru, Hitsugaya gains wings and a tail made of ice.
