Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, the captivating anime released in Spring 2021, has left fans eagerly awaiting news of a second season Despite the passage of two years, the series has yet to announce its continuation, leaving viewers in anticipation

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song was released in the Spring 2021 anime season. However, despite two years passing, a second season has not been announced. WIT Studio has a valid explanation for this, as revealed in an interview with Mipon.

The storyline of Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song centers around Vivy, an AI singer who is recruited by another AI to prevent a catastrophic future. Vivy embarks on a dangerous, century-long mission to protect humanity from being dominated and destroyed by AI.

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song was planned as a single cour anime

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song fans were eager for a second season, but the original creators Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara have stated that there are no plans for it. In an interview with Mipon, they explained that the anime was always intended to be a single cour and they feel that the story has been fully concluded. They believe that a sequel season could potentially damage the integrity of the first installment.

Tappei Nagatsuki stated:

Nagatsuki expressed satisfaction with the conclusion of the story and felt it would be inappropriate to prolong it further. Despite the success and positive reception of the first season, he did not believe it necessary to add another cour. However, he mentioned that he would be open to the possibility of creating a voice drama CD or an OVA episode if there was sufficient demand for additional content related to the anime.

In addition, the creator was open to the idea of a side story set within the same universe but with a completely different plot, unrelated to the original series. This alternate story could explore intriguing elements such as Vivy's hidden siblings or the enigmatic sealed singularity points.

During the interview, the creators also shared additional details about the anime. Originally intended to be a one-cour series, the two creators encountered difficulty in concluding the story within 12 episodes. As a result, they appealed to the producer for an extra episode, in order to properly develop the plot without rushing or omitting any important aspects.

"We had already planned the ending of the story, but while writing it, we realized that fitting everything we had scheduled for episode 1 into a single episode was impossible. So, we implored the producer to grant us an additional episode," Nagatsuki explained to the publication. The creators' refusal to compromise the story's integrity within the given timeframe demonstrates their deep dedication to the anime. Consequently, it is reasonable that they did not push for another season, potentially leaving fans without a sequel featuring Vivy.
